Is there going to be a higher SKU then the R5 2400G or is this going to be the flagship model??

Unlikely, the 2400G is already stretched to the max at 3.6, the focus is on SFF and the lower power parts, wich is the actual purpose of this die as according to Computerbase Raven Ridge use a 14nm+ process optimised for density.

sales of traditional desktops are stagnating at best. Meanwhile, demand for small form-factor desktops is growing

I think we have diferent definitions for "rant". I said AMD should have released the drivers sooner because what the OEM are providing is making them look bad. Not that they would not launch the drivers today.

That is not a rant, but wharever.

Really? Is that what you mean when you said_______________ ?

WTH is wrong with AMD? they plan to do a worldwide launch of RR tomorrow and they still havent put up a working RR driver?

The drivers and whatnot were on the flash drive that was in the box for the official press review kit.

The press reviewers had everything needed.

Personally I think AMD when they reach 7nm process should have a 6 core Ryzen G CPU w/ 8MB of L3 cashe.
If the rumors are correct, and Next gen, 7 nm Epyc has 256 MB L3 cache, it will mean single CCX to have 32 MB's of L3 cache, and therefore APU version can have 16 MB's of L3 cache.

7 nm APU: 8 cores, 1536 GCN cores, HBM2, anyone?

And what do you think i going to say after watching a video of a guy who got the 2400G early, using OEM drivers labeled "with Raven Ridge support" that crashes every 5 minutes? "nah thats fine?" Thats some kind of selective memory you got there.

They could do 8 cores within 200m2 even with 1024 SPs, 7LP has 2x the density of 14nm and parts like the UVD and IMC wont be doubled.

Why would AMD release drivers officially BEFORE APUs would go on sale, officially?

What's your recommendation to buy? Something around the same price point, but with better performance for the cash?

No, you don't need 2GB system RAM allocated to the GPU.

I didn't say you did...

I said that is the reasoning being used for needing 16gb of ram with the new APUs.

You need two sticks of ram, and the graphics are going to reserve some of that ram, so people think 8gb is then not enough.

the best deal to me:
2200G+GTX1050+Single Channel DDR4-2400, that seems the best deal, before this i would have recomended the R3 1200, but the 2200G just kills it at a lower price.

a 2nd option is 2200G + Single Channel DDR4-2400 + GT1030 overcloked, to be honest i had never considered the GT1030 to this date, but seeing the hardware unboxed review it performs well in 1080P overall, and they used a G4560 in there.

And 2200G+Fast dual channel ram is the best deal for IGP gaming.

After all this i would jump directly to a 6C CPU, either the I5-8400 or the R5 1600, i would avoid 4/8 enterely, its not worth it, at least not with these kind of GPU performance.

Well after reading some reviews, the CPU part is performing better than expected for its 4MB L3, thats a good thing.

IGP performance is just not good enoght, the 2400G has a rather large IGP that is barely trading blows with the GT1030 that is the slower dgpu on the market...

There are GT 710, 730, 740, R5 240 and R5 250 in decent supply.
Those are slower than the GT 1030.

Because they did release a pre-launch driver via OEM, last week all OEM launched the new chipset drivers incluiding the VGA driver for Raven Ridge that was broken, petty much like they released the firmwares. The beta driver for RR should had been avalible, if not for us at least for the mobile users.
They did know OEMs had a broken drivers, and they did know nothing will happen if they release the driver 1 or 2 days sooner, i see no point in keeping the working driver hidden in that case.

The mental gymnastics are strong here: instead of spending $90 on an extra stick of RAM and future proof the memory subsystem... why not get an overclocked 1030 for 10% extra performance.

Not even that. Getting 2x4GB sticks is barely more money than a 1x8GB stick. The level at which you game on a 1030 or this iGPU is not going to care about 7.5GB, or even 6GB vs. 8GB, and puts you within what could nearly margin of error of a 1030. I'm not sure why you'd do 2200G + 1030 over a 2400G in that case.

That is covered in the 3rd option of the 2200G with fast dual channel ram, and from what im seeing the overcloked GT1030 is more than 10% faster, that is already true on stock, specially on minimums. As i said is only valid if you overclock the GT1030.

2x4GB is dumb on A320, you are going to fill the ram slots, making more dificult to upgrade later on. Also remember the IGP uses dynamic memory, so it will always use up to 2GB in a game.
2200G+GT1030 is cheaper than the 2400G, if you consider using AB350 and fast dual channel rams for the 2400G. You are also not forced to go 2x4GB what is really a bad idea and you have the full 8GB of ram for use.

It is a valid option, to me only if you OC the GT1030. Otherwise i rather go GTX1050 on 2200G or the 2200G alone, as i said.

A igpu can't be too good from AMD otherwise it will start cannibalising their own dedicated gpu market (the lower end stuff).

And the point is the A10-7870K beaten the crap out of them... the GT730 could only trade blows with GDDR5, but that was DDR3 vs GDDR5.
