What coolers are everyone using? My 2700x will boost up to 4100 on the stock cooler but it's really loud, it sounds like its shifting a ton of air when it ramps up.
That noctua nh-d15 sounds amazing. Cool and very quiet but I feel loath to hang over a kilo from my motherboard!

I use the 240 AIO from coolermaster. Cool and quiet @ 4.1 $50

I use the Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 with 2 fans. I dropped about 5C (+ 2 or 3C more from the second fan) over the Prism and a lot of noise under load. I'm happy with the performance and looks, but it's a bit over priced at $75. The second fan is even more OP, at $25 -- so I rebent their mounting brackets and squeezed a Fractal Design fan I had lying around in there.

BTW, I used the Wraith Prism with my R5 1600 where it works much better.

I use 280mm BeQuiet AIO, silent at 4.1GHz 1.3V, but ramping up for 4.2GHz or even stock (at least stock is hitting 4.35GHz frequently in games with this cooler).

Putting the finishing touches on a new 2600x build. I already have a 2700x under custom water with my Asus CH VI x370 mb and 16g (2x8) of Flare-X DDR4-3200 ram coupled with a water cooled GTX 1080.

Got the itch to try a x470 chipset so I bundled a Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra (least expensive mb) with a Ryzen 2600x cpu. I'm also using Flare-X DDR4-3200 16g(2x8) ram coupled with a Zotac GTX 1070 Mini.
Using 2 500g ssds.

I decided to go the AIO route so I'm using a Corsair H100i v2 cooler, all housed in a Corsair 100r case.

Sweet machine that does very well in VR.

I tested for 50 hours without errors with memtest86 version 7.5 .
The memory is now running at 3200MHz.

Voltage 1.3
tCL 18
tRCDRD 18
tRCDWR 18
tRP 18
tRAS 40
tRC 52
CR1 1
tRRD_S 7
tRRD_L 7
tCCDL 7
tFAW 35
tRFC 416
tRFC2 256
tRFC4 176

With the handbrake encoding test from the handbrake thread, i got an ~ 10% increase in decoding speed.
3.13fps@2933MHz and 3.47fps@3200MHz. (I did do both tests only once, so results might be a bit skewed)
No programs open besides handbrake. And allcore boost is between 3600MHz and 3625MHz.
I could set the timings even more tighter, afterall the memory is rated for Cl16-16-16-36 @1.35V but i will leave it like this for now.
When i feel like it , i will start another 50hour trial but with stricter timings.

Today my 4770k rig headed off to the magic smoke cloud in the sky, RIP 2013-2018.
The good news is I had most of the parts already ordered for a new Ryzen 2700x build.
I think I picked my parts pretty well, just curious if there was anything I missed or could have chosen better.
Ryzen 2700x
Asrock X470 Gaming K4
G Skill Flare X 3200 C14 16gb Kit
Western Digital Black SSD 512gb
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
EVGA Supernova P2 750w
Fractal Design Define R5
Various leftover spinning drives and blu ray burners from my old rig.

That looks almost identical to my parts list. :) Should be a winner.

Not sure what your budget was. I'm more partial to the Asrock Taichi. If you had extra cash, I'd take a Samsung SSD over WD currently and maybe a 1080Ti - although I believe the 1080 is closer to MSRP and is the better bang for buck unless you're pushing high refresh/resolution monitor (you didn't mention).

I like the Taichi, the extra power phases would have been nice, but I couldn’t justify the extra cost for features I probably wouldn’t use.
Plus I got a pretty killer combo deal for the Gaming K4 and cpu from Newegg and thanks to a special offer on Prime Day I was able to score the 1080 for well under MSRP.
I have an older 27in Auria EQ276W 2760x1440 @60hz. It’s nothing special.I also don’t do a ton of gaming anymore, more video and photo work. I might upgrade to a similar sized G-sync monitor later if I can find a good deal on one.
Samsung vs WD, since I wasn’t going for the Pro model where Samsung is king the WD had a better price for similar performance to a 970 Evo.

CrackRabbit: NICE RIG!:)

Thank you! Can’t wait to get it built!
