Hoping the whining is fixed on the air cooled Fury... most likely will be there but the fan will drown it out :whiste:
The whine is caused by the pump. Which has means the fury will not have it at all.

Less people would purchase too maybe? I'd never have purchased with a wc block. Clc cooler though I would have purchased but too many reasons to list.Ah, good.
I still wish they just shipped it with a damn water block... like the ARES III or something. Sure you'd have to have an existing loop but hey maybe less people would be returning them
I guess the new pump cover can be seen as new revision, just got the 2nd one. No squeeling. No rattling. XFX is the way to go, haven't heard much complains about them so far and now i got one aswell.

Did you check if there is a batch # or serial # difference between the 'fixed' units, and the bad ones?I guess the new pump cover can be seen as new revision, just got the 2nd one. No squeeling. We have received feedback that during open bench testing a small number of Fury X cards emit a sound from the high speed liquid cooling pump that, while not loud, is bothersome to some users. While the vast majority of initial Fury X owners report remarkably quiet operation, we take this feedback seriously, as AMDs mission is to always deliver the best possible experience to our Radeon customers.
AMD Radeon R9 Fury X customers demand and deserve the best, so adjustments in the sound baffling adhesive compound were applied in the assembly of the high speed cooling pump to address the specific sound a few end users experienced as problematic. This improved the acoustic profile of the pump, and repeat testing shows the specific pitch/sound in question was largely reduced through adjustments to the sound-baffling adhesive compound in the pump.
AMD will work with its graphic card partners to ensure the satisfaction of the small number of initial customers who observed this specific sound and experienced it as bothersome. AMD is confident that on-going production of Radeon R9 Fury X product reduces the specific sound in question, but this is also a highly subjective matter with wide differences in PC case builds and room acoustics.
The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X radiator fan is near silent, and this makes any sound from the high-speed pump more noticeable to some end users, especially during open bench testing. Thus although the overall sound levels are remarkably low for an enthusiast product, AMD has worked to reduce the specific sound that some customers report as bothersome.
Well mine is going back. Even though it wasn't the worst offender to me, I am concerned about the resale value of the original pump units. I convinced newegg to give me store credit instead of risking getting another bad pump unit. Loved the card, but don't have time to keep dealing with RMA's so the Fury X is going back and I have 2 980ti's inbound.
Idle is the worst because the sound is just as loud at idle as it is at load. Like everyone says, its not the volume on the noise but the pitch that is the nuisance. I have many other Corsair AIO's and they make no such noise.
I would advise against a purchase until we know only revised pumps are in the channel unless you like gambling

Darn, how did you get Newegg to give you store credit? I asked them for store credit but they did not want to give it to me, because of their replacement only policy. Then again, I did use their online chat feature instead..maybe I should try giving them a call in-person?
I have to stick to AMD because I have a freesync monitor so I was thinking about getting store credit and using it to buy a regular Fury instead when it comes out next week..
I used the chat as well, but I am a Newegg Premier member so maybe that helped my cause.
EK is launching a waterblock for the Fury X. Problem solved.
That does look nice... single slot as well, but, expensive.
I'm still having trouble getting an rma sorted with Sapphire.
The only responses I have gotten are from Facebook and the email address they gave me from there. No actual moment on the rma, or even a respone from the support ticket.
Startig to wish I just waited. Also AMD's poor attempt at down playing the issue are eve more of a conern. I was hoping AMD was better than that. If it really only was a small number of units l. Then a recall wouldn't have been that big of a deal, but marketing is more important that customer satisfaction and that shouldn't be the case with AMD right now. They should never lose focus from their customers. A bad experience can send them away for life.
