Also not all cpu's do that, if you want to do that, then lets toss used C0/C1 i7 920's which people are pwning off from anyhwere between 130-150.

You can get the 920 for 199 at microcenter new.

So no hacked / Modified / Used proccessors, or the i7 920 used dominates.

Your response is confusing me. Can I have your i7 for $100 :)??? That's the way I read it.

I cannot find a date for availability. SOme sources state the athlon II 250 and phenom II 550 will be released June 2, 2009 (tommorow!) but typically the retail sites have them in advance. Does this mean they will be officially announced tommorow and available some weeks after?

Please don't try to say you can still get the i7 920 for $199 now. That's like me telling everyone they can still get the AMD PII 920 for $134 or a movie ticket for $5.50 (prime time). Special once-in-a-while sales should not really be mentioned. I don't even see the i7 920 for $229.99 on Microcenter; it's not even on their website at all.

The worst part is that he's got the nerve to throw in used processors. So what if you need to unlock some cores with a simple BIOS setting? Who cares if you can overclock a $50 CPU to be better than one that costs $500? Instead of complaining about them, you should be buying them and using the money you save for a charitable cause, such as donating agricultural packs to villages in Africa.

Even if the 920 is $199 then it's still $100 more than this apparent AMD deal, and it is by no means at all twice as fast. On a good day with an excellent overclock it might be 25-30% faster than a Phenom 2 at 4ghz, and that's pushing it.

And this, too. I've added that thing to my shopping cart like 3~4 times yet couldn't pulled the trigger. But I'm glad that I waited. Now there are these new X2's with both DDR2/DDR3 controllers.. I'll grab an Asrock board (or the uber sexy MSI board) and those will keep me entertained for months to come along with my 955BE.

Im quite impressed at how the Athlon II performs (without the L3$) more so than the X2 550. Not to mention it being a native dual core with a die size of 117mm^2 :Q

Not bad for Phenom II 550, it competes with Intel E7000 series and overclocks to 3.9/4.0
