Intel also confirms DX12 have been in development for years.

It looks more that AMD took all the work from MS and partners, designed their own API and released it in an alpha state to be on the market before MS with DX12.

/edit: Mantle is dead. Same market, same "tool" for the same problem.

/edit: No new hardware from AMD:

I don't know what are you talking about. Are those a facts or speculations on your part?

And MS was before AMD because they designed GCN and the xbox hardware. Wrote the whitepapers about the tech. Invited Dice, Oxide, Crytek, and made all the tools for them.

Then suddenly a day. AMD stole it all and ran away with it and released it in early betaform.

Hmm - sounds as the most likely scenario.

Sure, DICE commited to a new API that was a repack of what MS had under it's sleeve all along, and instead of waiting for DX12, went for a half assed solution.

Well, that would be the case if we belived circular theories from the usual suspects. What is even funnier is that the same principle can apply to Gsync (stealing an idea and release it as a close-vendor solution in a beta stage to reach the market first), but somehow, those usual suspects dismiss that possibility entirely (even if it has been already proven the existence of tech previous to Gsync that can do the same thing, unlike Mantle vs DX 12, whose existence of the latter was totally disregarded until some new API had to come and mope the floor with DX11...)

Facts.
DX12 solves the same problem like Mantle. So there doesn't exist any reason to use Mantle.

BTW: nVidia is trolling AMD very hard:

/edit: Support goes down to Fermi!

Developers already have DX12 drivers. The Forza demo was running on NVIDIA!!! 10:39

Holy crap, that wasn't on an Xbox One!!

Scott Michaud:
Fermi and forward... aligning well with the start of their compute-based architectures... using IEEE standards (etc). Makes perfect sense. Also might help explain why pre-Fermi is deprecated after GeForce 340 drivers...

Great day.

Console-like access to an open standard? LOL wut? To what? Closed proprietary libraries? Ohh the irony

AMD took Microsofts work for AMD's hardware.

lol, that needs some explaining.

who cares if mantle is dead? we now have a mantle-like api with none of the software engineering and design being done by AMD themselves...lowers the burden on amd and probably speeds up its developement.

lol holiday 2015. Well i guess that puts an end to 'who's copying who'. Mantle will have been on the market for 2 years by the time DX12 releases... Should be very wide spread by then. :)

Great day.

You have DX12 drivers and capable software running benches to prove it solves the problem just like mantle?

They can reduce CPU overhead for as low as 1% and your faux claim will still apply, the problem is, does it solve the problem as much as mantle does right now? Till it finally launches, we wont find out. But somehow I dont think that would stop you from keeping making baseless claims.

DX12 exists, guys. nVidia has drivers, devs have drivers. Forza 5 run on a Titan Black card.

And how many Mantle games will be released until end of 2015? 5? Wow.

No word on OS support. It would be interesting if they supported linux and android, that would solidify their dominance.

Okey 51 minutes with no technical info. Damn.

They surely can not agree.

they are hiding the actual qualities very well :)

Only dev voice was a quote from Tim Sweeney - about a future implementation.

lol. MS is fu...d.

I dont doubt it exists, I doubt you have the drivers and capable software able to use DX12 to confirm it works just like mantle.

So this means we will have to tolerate 2 full years of green FUD about DX12 being awesome because they were told so in a powerpoint slide? Damn.

Microsoft will not support anything else than the Windows plattform obviously.

We talking here about an open standard. Sure it takes time to bring it to the market.
Cuda was released 2007 while OpenCL was released end of 2009.

5-6 games in that 2 yr period should not be had to beat though

that is assuming no one jumps Mantle ship now that early acces DX12 is available later this year
