I can't even OC to 3.4ghz, stock heatsink. I tried and was unstable in Windows, other than simple programs.

My Ivy 3570K @ 4.0Ghz, Sapphire AMD Radeon 7850 Factory OC(920/1250) 8gb RAM

My cinebench 64 score

80.52fps OpenGL
6.65 CPU - Multi
1.70 CPU - Single

Rig in sig (if you have sigs blocked, PhII 1090 @ 4.03/2.6GHz, DDR2 @ 866MHz, 7970 at stock speeds for this test).

CPU - 7.01
OpenGL - 65.01

Screen shot.

Pretty nice score you got! Four Ivy cores (and four threads) scored very close to my hexcore PhII. That really shows just how good Ivy IPC is when compared to AMD CPU's. Of course I was still faster, so neener neener neener. :p j/k

What is really cool (to me) is that I bought this system on 3/25/08. My system is four and a half years old, and still trucking! I have to say, I really got my mileage out of this AM2+ board. It is on its third and final CPU, has had a 4870, 5870, 5870 x2 Crossfire, and now a 7970. It is going to be sad when I finally retire this one...!

Since I also have an HD4870 (though it's a 512mb model) we could do some comparisons between Ivy and BD apples to apples with older/low end GPU's. I also have an older Q6600 machine I could benchmark with the same GPU. Name the test =) I also have a fair game library so we might even be able to get some real-world numbers.

my trail version expired so every time i install it is tells me to buy the full version and if i click no it closes and i can't do anything
Uninstall and delete the folder, then reinstall.
If the issue persists get ccleaner and get rid of the regs.

How long exactly? =P

I have to run to work but I'll try to think up some good game tests and post my ideas this evening, if you'll still have your chip.

Do you have Guild Wars 2? Minecraft? Sins of a Solar Empire? How about Skyrim? Civ V? What other games?

Do you own any Gamecube or Wii games, and would you be willing to download a digital copy and run an emulator?

Most people would probably think you would be very GPU limited with only an HD4870 in the above games, and indeed they might be right, but we wont know until we try.

Thuban strikes me as one of AMD's best ever CPU releases, which is why I think people were so disappointed that Bulldozer struggled to trump it and over all, I would rather have a Thuban than a Bulldozer CPU based system.

Initially I was disappointed with my OpenGL score, not that I really put that much weight on it, because my old i7 860 system @ stock(2.8Ghz) combined with an ATI HD5770 card, got a score of 54.27.

But I only use my video card for gaming and in gaming it is far faster than my old ATI HD5770, and by a much larger margin than the difference in Cinebench's OpenGL benchmark.

I'll pick up a Hyper when pay this thing off (paid $405 for a $1100 shock).

BUY an SSD! DO IT NAO! That 160GB/500GB mechanical drives in your sig is making me sad considering the overall decentness of your build.
