Yeah well I'm strictly talking single cards. I can easily admit crossfire looks worse than SLI but even crossfire looks fine in certain games. I have no allegiance to a brand, can you say the same?

It's one thing to say it, it's another to mean it and act on it.

Well the majority of ppl beating on the crossfire drum are NVidiots who don't even own crossfire set ups. I'm not a blind fanboy but I've also only been using SLI after the hd 4800 series. I'd like to see it before I complain about it. Does that objectivity surprise you?

Single cards are far more clear.

Of course they are, just like fanatics only rip into Nvidia.

Nothing surprises me, except maybe the level of self delusion that takes place under the shroud of anonymity.

I think if someone had it in their sig that they belonged to an advocacy/focus group, advocated said product without commenting on other competing brands, and their position allowed them to act as a liaison for the community, they'd be a welcome asset.

When they start dragging the opposition through the dirt with half truths and lies, belittling others who show the competing products in a positive light, or even have a positive opinion about the competition, go out of their way to derail threads showcasing the oppositions product, etc... that's where I have issues.

Someone could be an advocate/focus group member and be a positive addition to the community.
I agree. I see little need for talking down competitors products, and it might just drive customers away from your own brand. Rather focus on the good aspects on the products your are supposed to evaluate. My concern is about what such an advocate can do and say if there are genuinely bad aspects of said product. Is it lid on, or can one discuss it in public? Keys, you would know (or "You do not talk about Fight Club"?)

A forum member that gets sent every product in a generation can really help other users to select what product is best for them, instead of recommending whatever he bought for himself (which is sadly the usual case here). But to do that also a certain degree of negative publicity must be allowed in my opinion.

With that said, who here wants to be a part of that awesome team that is AMD marketing. :D
Ouch! :)

In the interest of streamlining applications, please direct your applications to my pm box. Make sure to include your address so your free 7970ge can be dispensed and so you can receive the most recent revision of the AMD shill manifesto.

Hey Guv,

Where is that 7970 ARES II you promised me?:colbert:

Exactly.

A little respect goes a long way, constantly slagging off the competition is not good business practice, it's childish and shows the represented company is a very poor light.

Yes it is in the case of satisfied customers. You act like everyone has a problem with their multimonitor AMD setups. Look at the awesome throttling GTX Titan, thats a value

I own a $280 HD 7970 and a $170 GTX 660. I paid those prices for both and they were an excellent value for the performance I get. Multimonitor works just fine on my 7970.

Dude, you aren't everyone, and not everyone worries about price/perf period, if you do, good for you....some prefer feature set, reliability, stability and customer support....

I've had that with all my AMD/ATI cards over the years....The only card I've had crap out on me was an Nvidia 580 Matrix; and I can tell you that dealing with ASUS support was one of the most miserable customer service experiences I've ever had. However, I don't blame Nvidia. I did manage to get a 670 DCII as a replacement, but that took almost two months.

I think you are confusing the board manufacturer to the actual chip maker. Mostly what you listed is depended on the AIB makers. Stability, reliability and customer support... Some feature sets I guess too.

And no I am not everyone, but others who give a damn about their money will care about price/performance. Which is most people.

I hope there is an answer Keys.......both have been very guilty in the past of this and honestly it needs to stop....

We shall see what happens..

I hope so to. And nevermind "both" in the past. This is AMD today and now with the promise of more.

Quote of the relevant email, for those who don't want to feed hits to ABT:

Hi, Andy.

First let me introduce myself: My name is Robert, and I’m the product marketing manager for enthusiast graphics at AMD: desktop gaming GPUs, AMD CrossFire, and AMD Eyefinity.

I was reading around the Internet and saw that you’d posted an article regarding a comment I made in a Reddit thread concerning the AMD Advocacy Program. It seems I didn’t adequately capture what I intended, so I hope I can make myself more clear on email. J

The Advocacy Program is an extension of AMD’s preexisting New Product Review Program (NPRP), which sends hardware samples to established websites (like ABT) for the purposes of independent third-party analysis. We hope to make these same inroads with new communication channels, like bloggers, YouTube reviewers and Twitter users, all of whom provide a unique and knowledgeable perspective that could add to the audience of independent reviewers already looking at our products in traditional press outlets. There are dozens of users with extremely large networks, an interest in technology, and no mechanism by which they might have access to open and honestly review a product in the same way that you might be able to as an established journalist.

We demand complete transparency in disclosing product sources, which is an FCC requirement in the US, the jurisdiction of our corporation. That is the same standard to which we hold all reviewers, advocacy program or otherwise.

More personally, I have a zero-tolerance policy for shilling as a 10-year forum moderation vet at another hardware review site. I’ve disclosed my affiliation there. I also disclosed my affiliation on the Reddit thread, as you saw. And I haunt the Overclock.net forums where again my affiliation is public. And on Twitter, where my affiliation is again disclosed. The same is also true for Google+, and Facebook, and any other location in which I might make product recommendations.

I expect the same from everyone in our marketing departments, and so does our legal team. J

Thanks for your time,

Robert

So yeah, it's precisely what I said it was. Democratizing review samples and spreading around the access, with full disclosure expected.

So the issue is that apoppin does not like some users on this forum, and now he is complaining to AMD about it? o_O It is hard to read it any other way, isn't it?

That's what I got from it too. Not sure why Keys would want it stickied when it's just more conjecture from Apoppin.

Could there be stealth AMD shills? Sure. Is there any proof of those shills? Not that I can see.

AMD fan <> AMD shill just like Nvidia fan <> Nvidia shill.

Wait, Rollo is back on the nVidia Focus Group!? Didn't he have a melt down, quit, burned some bridges, then tried to claim he was a born-again agnostic or something just a few months ago?

Interesting...

You forgot the one rule when interacting with Rollo:

1. Don't believe anything he says!

Geez, I thought people would have figured that out by now. :p

Our communities are being destroyed by those who claim to love PC gaming.

You didn't make that very clear in your post. Makes more sense now thanks for the clarification.
