Hoping I can pick up another 6870 reasonable for crossfire, else I'll pick up a 6950 and relegate the 6870 to back up computer duty. I would also like to consider a 570, if the price drops on those units.

Heh, Newegg's out of stock of Gigabyte's 6970 and the reviews aren't even out yet.

Kind of dishonest but ya I could see the bang for buck rearing its ugly head again.
Well, they missed out on a couple of weeks of Christmas sales, so if they are going to do that, they are likely intentionally entering them in the market for less than their projected retail to try to get as many sales as they could to make up for the last few weeks of being late. Not so much dishonest as clever marketing perhaps.

I did say kind of. Meaning not exactly. This entire campaign was a bit underhanded but turn about is fair play.

Welp, ordered me an XFX 6970 with 2DA shipping so I should get it Friday. I really hope the reviews are good on it as it's $10 more than the cancelled eVGA 570 SC I ordered yesterday.

Now I just have to wait for SB to come out to build a new pc. Thankfully I can take advantage of the 6970 before then :)

I wouldn't really call it underhanded though. Problem may be if Nvidia goes ahead and lowers their prices, then the AMD price increase may backfire a bit, though I imagine sales will still be strong.

So stop my technolust and tell me that my GTX 460 1GB SLI setup doesn't need to be replaced by a single 6950 :)

When overclocked those cards perform. Amd has the price right on this cards. They are going to sell alot of these cards. Even if they are the under the gtx 5

I personally was expecting something special but amd failed to impress. Swag must of gotten to the head a lil bit. I don't see a reason to fly and get this card especially after seeing the chart. Let me wait for some more reviews and see what else shows up.

I'm hoping to see someone check out how these push Eyefinity with their increased RAM. If it doesn't show enough of a jump from where I'm at, then I'll ride the 5850 until the 79xx series.

That review is showing underwhelming performance, IMO. Throwing out HAWX 2, because that clearly favors Nvidia cards, it's still unimpressive. The hd6970 essentially ties the gtx570 in RE5, loses in Dirt 2 and Lost Planet 2, while winning in Stalker and Mafia II. And the gtx570 is cheaper.

Yea, if that review is accurate this is a pretty underwhelming part. It starts to catch up to the GTX5xx cards as the resolution increases, but still a pretty 'meh' card (again, assuming this is an accurate review).

Power and heat are up and it seems to lose to the 570 overall. Disappointing.

I don't believe anyone here would think that you would think any differantly . So whats your opinion on the GTX460 1 gig.

I like the 6950 alot as far as what it offers the buyers and the partners. The 560 is on its way . Depending on if we sell my system tomorrow I will likely go with a partners O/Ced 6970. For the games thats out its way good enough with games out there .

May I ask what res. your looking at , The top res correct as thats the one everyone keyed on with the 580 cards. Or are you looking at lower res?
