AMD 64 OC Blog

LOL! an overclocking site started by akshayt...not to mentioned all of the information was just a quick copy-paste job...

After all the crap he's put out on this forum, doesn't anyone else think it's time he gets banned?

I can say a few things:

Zebo's guide is very streamlined - I had to hunt down a lot of the background information. I know that was the exact point of Zebo's guide, and I mean no disrespect to him. My only concern is that folks that are new to overclocking are most likely going to need additional help. That being said, I think the blog is a good idea

As for how the blog was implemented, I find the format to be cumbersome. I think a guide / tutorial / lesson would be a better media to present this information as most folks would not want to mentally consolidate multiple blog postings. The blog format would be more helpful for specific issues rather than general information.

I also think that if you've recieved your information from somewhere (e.g. Zebo's guide), whether you quote it or use some likeness of it or not, you should at least cite it as a source. Ideally, you'd want to have Zebo's permission - but Zebo made his guide to be used and he didn't include any disclaimers about how it is to be distributed.

Were I in your shoes, I'd quote Zebo's guide directly after obtaining his permission and link to the original article. Then I'd offer my own personal review to flesh out the points that Zebo takes for granted (I'd make sure Zebo knew I was going to offer a critical review and allow him to offer his comments in response before I posted it). Zebo seems like a nice enough guy and I don't think he'd mind you expounding upon his guide as long as you give him credit and don't change what he wrote. But, that's just me - you don't see me taking the time to make a blog, so that tells you how much my opinion is worth.

As for bannage, I wouldn't jump the gun. However, if anyone is ballsy enough to start a blog based on information they obtained from someone else on the forum and to refuse to acknowlege their sources and, finally, to advertise it in the same forum, that person is a serious candidate for bannage.

Nothing personal, akshayt - I don't honestly think you'd do that.

They aren't calling for bannage just because of this, this is icing on the cake.

:Q oic.

Considering this just a few days ago you had your first overclock....

I'm not so sure you should be starting a blog based on someone else's information. However inspire gave some good advice.

I'm not sure he should get banned for this, maybe a warning(if there is such a thing)? His real punishment will come when he realizes his time wasted(what little it was with copy/paste techniques) creating the blog itself and asking members here to join, who pretty much know the information is copied.

noone is gonna visit his little blog anyways...so, relax.

It is still plagiarism.

Is it copyrighted? Is it covered over international law and boundries?

If you write a paper for a college class, and it contains ANY un-original material that isn't cited it's still considered plagiarism.

Even if it isn't, he is claiming it as his own, which still falls under the definition.

I'm looking into that now, but I'm almost positive that it's a violation of U.S. law. I'll post back once I've found out.

Okay, here are some links about plagiarism on the internet: link #1, link #2, link #3. As you can see, in this instance, state law dominates, instead of federal law. So, whether or not it is even illegal depends on the state that akshayt lives in, if he even lives in the U.S. at all. If he doesn't, it's definitely not illegal, since only one or two countries worldwide have laws against plagiarizing things that originated, or were copyrighted, in the U.S. That's one of the ways that they show how much they despise us, it seems.

edit: It seems that Airtel DSL service is in India: link to that, and India has absolutely no laws against stealing intellectual property, or anything else, from the U.S.

Not sure I follow, but good research!

I'm not sure whether he's ever said where he lives, but if he isn't lying on his profile about who he has his DSL through, he lives in India, as you can see from the Airtel DSL link in my last post.

plagiarism != copyright infringement.

Sometimes they coincide, other times they don't. One is an ethical violation the other is a legal violation. At least, afaik...

My blog is not a copy of this information. The isolate and consolidation rule is the same as he mentioned but even in that I have made things much more clear.

Also, my overclocking for noobs is a completely different concept that what he explained you. The concept is completely different.

The hardware and software required are completely different.

My blog is a good target for overclocking, any newbie will find my blog a dozen simpler to understand and implement while for hardcore overclockers; there is nothing but to share their experience.

Can you point out in what way is overclocking for noobs and hardware/software required section copied?
yes, I got the idea for isolate and consolidate rule and it is more or less the same with minor modifications.

Anyway, I have 2 main concepts. One is not that of Zebo. The other is the further development and more explained version of his concept. You can't have 20 overclocking concepts, it is how you explain it.

LOL, he still claims it as his own property, and in his post he's making himself out to be like some kind of "master overclocker"

Don't forget, akshayt, you needed help with the most basic of overclocking concepts just a few weeks ago...from US...and when you first started posting crap like "1900XTX sucks" you were too scared to even try overclocking...so please, the egotism isn't necessary.

On a sidenote:

Maybe he's making this blog because (from his 1900XTX thread) 🙂:

That was weeks back, today my overclocking guide for noobs is what you will not find in the form of any oc guide on the internet. Show me one overclock guide on the internet for noobs which comes close to mine. I challenge you.

The way I have explained things, all in one blog is more than what you will find anywhere else.

Obviously, all oc guide writters learnt it from somebody, and many things were exactly the same as they learnt, but some things you learn, others you try and finally invent your own.

Tell me one doubt that is left in your mind after reading my blog. All your overclocking concepts will be crystal clear while reading zebo's guide doesn't have the same effect on noobs, you need to read it again and again and are still not so confident with that as with me.

What you don't understand is, some people need yrs of experience yet are able to do only a bit, others use a bit of experience to do everything. Today, I have mastered AMD 64 overclocking for noobs, not for hardcore users. But I have a basic idea how to go about hard ocre oc aswell, though I amd not that well versed for hardware yet, noobish is easy enough.
