Amazon shipping time

Amazon has amazon branded delivery vans in this area now, most of my 2 day or same day delivery items are delivered by them instead of UPS or Fedex.

Which is why everybody hates Costco, amirite?

Shortsighted to compare modern day costco to oligopoly Costco. (See Idiocracy)

You can trust a publicly traded company to always do what's best for the consumer, I'll place my trust in competition.

I actually ordered from Amazon *gasp* recently, and they blatantly delayed shipment while I hemmed and hawed for several days, putting together another order, adding and removing from my cart. Both orders, placed over a week apart, arrived in the same box. So, if you want your stuff without delay, don't put anything in the cart when you have an order in the pipeline; Amazon will notice and try to combine it with the previous order.

This is an interesting theory. Something I can definitely see them doing in their infinite plan to take over the world. Delay the shipment as long as possible in case you order something else so they can combine and save shipping costs. Brilliant!

I personally don't mind waiting for something to arrive. I always choose the cheapest option for shipping. I don't understand when people get upset their order hasn't arrived in by the estimated time. I see it all the time in the console forum with new video game releases. No one has patience anymore.

I really doubt Amazon generally delays fulfillment in order to combine shipments; only those times when you signal an impending order by adding something to your cart. Yes, it's an obvious way to cut costs. Trouble is, you may end up not ordering, just deleting the item from the cart the next day - and so Amazon racks up additional delay to no end other than aggravating the customer.

Now, IMO, they also will delay fulfillment simply to keep expectations low and not compete with Prime. E.g.: They'll sit on your order for ~5 days before shipping, and then it shows up 1-2 days later (as predicted).

Note: To be clear, I'm discussing Free Super Saver shipping (no interest in Prime).

Note: I typically avoid delays by ordering from 3rd parties.

I just saw that it was available in my area as well.

My only complaint with same day delivery is sometimes it can be delivered pretty late, I had a package show up around 9pm a few weeks ago.

One time I got same day delivery and it showed up the next day so they gave me a free month of prime... Win

YAAT (Yet Another Amazon Thread)

Ordered some stuff on Sunday, haven't even gotten an E-mail yet that's it's been shipped. In my account the status is still waiting to be shipped. Is this a ploy to try to get you to sign up and pay for Prime? Something I don't need since I don't buy enough on Amazon.

I feel like canceling the fucking order and trying to find the shit on ebay or somewhere else.

A few years ago Amazon would have shipped the order out by Monday maybe Tuesday at the latest. Now it basically takes 3 or 4 days before it is even shipped.

I think Amazon is trying to make people upgrade to Prime so this is their standard modus operandi now.

You sound very surprised that your order didn't go out earlier. I guess you don't order very often, if ever, from Amazon.

When I had Prime, standard ground shipping from any of the nearby distribution centers to Colorado always took two days. I'm not sure a single Prime shipment that I ever received was shipped via air, but it did always arrive in two days. What you're really getting with Prime is prioritized (same day) shipment.

Don't try to take any freebies they offer if your package is late. They'll put you on a blacklist. Well at least a brownlist where they will sometimes be a little late with a lot of your orders. I totally made that up but I do wonder what they think of customers who collect on a freebie for late deliveries. Edit- If you have to ask for the freebie that is. Not if it's automatically given or applied to your next orders.

Yeah, you totally made that up. They have much better shit to worry about.

Simple fact is: if you don't have Prime, you're a 3rd class customer (and there is no 2nd class).

OP what's your status? Mine is arriving today, which is great b/c it said it was supposed to arrive on Monday all week, AND didn't "ship" until yesterday.

I think they were moving the item I purchased to their Canadian warehouse in Mississauga before actually shipping it to me. I hear this practice is quite common.

I'm shocked if I get something in a week. It usually takes two weeks. Luckily I don't use Amazon that often.

I have Prime and have ordered stuff 2-day on the weekend and theyll wait to the last minute and over night it so it arrives on time.

Because you had Prime! 🙄

That's what I figured. And quite frankly this is where ebay has Amazon beat. A lot of stuff I buy on ebay gets shipped either the same day or next day. Of course this isn't a corporate fuck head shipping my package either. Also, I find my stuff cheaper on ebay. But you have to have good sense in not buying used and checking out the feedback. I use Control + F and enter in the first part of the item name and search the negative and neutral feedback for that item.

Looks like it was shipped today from San Bernardino and will be here tomorrow. Unreal in that the order was placed on Sunday.

My 1st grade crush whom I still communicate with on Facebook used to work at the San Bernardino Amazon warehouse. But I guess it wasn't for her.
