Amazon shipping time

Due to the crap with Amazon Prime a couple of months back I have deliberately ordering 1-item things two days apart to maximize Amazon's operational costs. I currently have three orders coming this week, all at different times. <snicker>

Before I got prime, Amazon's super slow shipping saved me money. I would regularly order things and a few days later I would decide that I didn't really need it. Since amazon would hold the order for 5 days before shipping, it gave me a chance to change my mind and cancel the order.

Ok, so I'm ragingly pissed. Stupid fuckin incompetent Canada Post put my $900 package in the wrong box, so the key they left in our community mailbox opens an EMPTY parcel box. SOMEONE ELSE is receiving my package now.

Goddammit they're incompetent. Fuck Canada Post. They can burn in hell.

Sometimes I find things local for the same price. Then it's easy to cancel the Amazon order since they are so slow.

I do that, but I choose the slower shipping so I can get multiple free credits. The slow shipping usually has them combining all the orders into one box, but I don't care.

I used to order and cancel the same item over and over to get faster shipping. They would move the item to processing and shipping if I did it enough times. That trick worked for couple months before they started moving my items to processing and not shipping for days. But it would show shipping soon so I couldn't cancel. If I didn't have free piggybacked Prime shipping, I doubt I would order from Amazon. Their regular free shipping is torture and I'm glad I don't have to play the order and cancel games anymore trying to speed up their slow shipping.

I find it can be sporadic. I've had to wait like 3 months before something is even shipped once. But recently I ordered some stuff and I had one shipment arrive today, I was actually surprised as it was before the projected date.

Interesting.

If you buy something that is third party off Amazon it delays things a lot sometimes.

I haven't really had many problems, I ordered a snare drum head once that seemed to get lost somewhere.

I called after a week and they canceled the order and reordered one I liked better actually, it was here in two days.

Yeah and most items that I can't get locally will probably be 3rd party. I've had some take months. What burns me is that they seem to purposely hold on to them if you don't pay for prime. It's not like they ship and it takes long for it to arrive, it's that they don't actually ship them right away. I find I've went back to Ebay for a lot of oddball stuff as it's faster.

I highly disagree. You don't have to be prime to get third party items that have prime eligible quicker.

I have had the same experience. I'd say my average time to ship is 3 days. Like if I order on the weekend, it ships Wednesday or Thursday. I don't order from them much.

I do think it's something to do with Prime as everyone with it raves how fast Amazon is. Fuck that.

Like I said, it seems to be very sporadic. Some things will ship faster than others, whether it's prime illegible or not I don't really care, I don't really even look at that because I don't have prime or the item I want might not even be illegible anyway.

I am not a Prime member anymore and just ordered 5 things through a third party seller and they will all be here Sunday (tomorrow)!

Of course it is sporadic you have to look at the shipping time too sometimes there is a delay they will say on the item page because item is out of stock or won't be available until a day or two later.

FWIW, I am a prime member and shipping has definitely been slower recently than it ever was.

Items arrived today. So it too six days. Funny that it says in my Amazon account that it was shipped from San Bernardino, yet on the package it says Las Vegas.

My items were ordered from Amazon and not a third party.

Could they have sent it from San Bernadino to Las Vegas on one of their own center-to-center trucks, then shipped it UPS/Fedex/USPS from Las Vegas?

That's commonly done to consolidate shipments, but it wouldn't surprise me if they also did it with single items just to save shipping costs for lower priority standard customers. If you're not paying the Prime membership fee, they don't care if it gets to you in two days or two weeks.
