Didn't see anyone post this yet. $50 rebate and free shipping slowest ground (5-9 days). A lot of people seem to have this LCD and seem to have reviewed it well.

Model MP704B
Black Finish
17" LCD w/1280 X 1024 Native Resolution
0.264 mm dot pitch
500:1 Contrast Ratio
250 cd/m2 brightness
20ms refresh

Rebate link is on the page as well. The 17" NESO LCD on special at Staples is cheaper (after coupon) but has a larger rebate ($80) and is a less well known brand so I think this is a pretty decent alternative.

Actually saw this over at TECHB@RGAINS first.

I don't own this personally (yet), but from the specs it seems like it would be a good budget gaming LCD assuming the 20ms refresh is accurate. 16ms seems to be the best around but not all 16 & 20 ms LCDs are created equal. The customer reviews appear to be very positive and I know people who own this panel and are very happy with it. This panel doesn't have digital inputs though.

Hope that helps.

Some of the reviews on Amazon are good, some are bad...one person even accused Amazon of planting the good reviews. I would like to get this but I'm worried about the quality...anyone else have/know of anyone who has this monitor?

I got this monitor from Fry's for $280 AR in March and I love it. I have not had a single issue with it from day 1. However, I do NOT game, so I can't comment on that. I do, however, use it with my AIW for a lot of TV recording/watching, and it has performed flawlessly, even with full screen TV.

Great price! This is comparable to the 16ms Hyundai deal. If Tom's Hardware is to be believed then the 20ms panels actually surpass the 16ms ones in terms of afterglow in FPS games. Which one is better I don't know. Tom's says 16ms panels are AG Optronics screens and 20ms panels are Hyundai screens. If that's correct, then the Cornea is a Hyundai screen and the Hyundai is an AG Optronics screen. Strange...

Argghhh! DECISIONS...DECISIONS!

This or the Hyundia L70s????????

The Hyundai has 16ms, 450:1 CR, 260 nits brightness...
The Cornea has 20ms, 500:1CR, 250 nits brightness...

Hyundai $399 + ~30 tax - 100AR = ~$330 at Fry's B&M with easy return for dead pixels
Cornea $350 - $50 = $300 at Amazon (no tax) but harder returns for dead pixels

I know the Cornea is said to be good. Can anyone comment on its text clarity??? I know neither of these are DVI, but I looked at the Hyundai at Fry's and its text reproduction is crisp! What about brightness? The Hyunai is not super bright, but adequate brighntess. More appealing was its accurate reproduction of black tones.

SO...for the Cornea:

1) What is the text clarity?
2) How is its brightness and black reproduction?

Cornea is as solid a LCD manufacturer as is out there. I would hardly call them offbrand. That being said, every manufacturer has their dogs in the lineup, so you really have to search out reviews. I cant speak about this model, but ive purchased 2 cornea's, 2 planars, and 1 hitachi lcd for work, and the only one with a dead pixel was the hitachi.

Do you run it at 1280x1024? Many reviews I've seen said bad clarity for text, I'm wondering if thats from a non-native resolution or if it that hapens on its native res.

Yes I noticed those reviews too, and I am wondering the same thing.

I am defintely willing to pay $30 more for better text clarity.

Yes, I run it at native res. When I first got it, I did think that black text on white background was a bit fuzzy, but this is my first LCD so I gave it some time. After about a day, I didn't even notice it anymore. I'm a professional writer, so I do a good bit of typing on it and have been very pleased.

Good enough for me, ordering it friday.

Im so confused between these two monitors...I'm thinking I'll buy both and return the one that I don't like.

Thanks I would try the other one but the return policy is so easy with Amazon, and I dont live in Cali to pick it up from Frys.

Anyone else with experience or insights for this cornea lcd monitor? Great price with free shipping and I have some gift certificates to use up @ amazon
