I know a few families that are home schooled. Those with the parents putting in the time and affort the kids are far ahead of public schools. They also do not lack socialization. they are in sports, scouts, etc. Hell I have been thinking of doing it with my 2 kids.

those parents that don't you can tell too. the family across the street did the oldest 4 kids and didn't put any time in it. They could barely read or do much math.

It seems its only as good as the parents are trying to make it.
 
Good for them. I went to public schools and so will any children I have. I was in the gifted programs for nearly all of my school years and I was in accelerated classes for certain subjects, but I'm glad I didn't try to graduate early. It was important, to me, to have 7-8 years of high school and college during my "coming of age" years. If I had it to do over again, I still wouldn't want to miss those years for an extra 3-5 years of career advancement.

And the left is guilty of this as is the right. Why does the obvious fact to thinking people, that Christian fundamentalist are crazy in general have to slop over onto these kids. Do liberals delight as much in being chimpanzees as their conservative partners? Not one of us ignorant fucktards knows a single thing about the inner development of these kids, whether they are better off psychologically than average or not. Nice. But don't forget that just because science shows that conservatives have a brain defect, you know what I mean, an adaption that is best only under conditions that don't currently apply, that does not mean that every conservative is totally bonkers. So the obvious implication of that is what I said earlier. No matter what stereotype we apply, fundamentalists are whackos or the homeschooled are generally happy, it says nothings specific about any one individual. It is dangerous to apply generalizations to specific individuals.

But it's still nice to see some studies on the matter. These kids impressed the hell out of me. School kills a lot of potential, in my opinion by killing the love of learning. A lot of kids learn to feel stupid and the competition for grades insures they will be humiliated by other students who do not want to feel those stings and take the opportunity to dump their anxiety by insulting and belittling. Look at all the incredibly mean things people say to me in these threads just because I'm brilliant, well adjusted, educated, and happy. Think of what skill I must have, to love myself and be a worthless nobody. 😉

The schools you mention above are all good schools with extremely HIGH STANDARDS, and while some are religious(SMU is not very religious, and requires ZERO course work in religion), they don't put religion above education. ND does NOT teach creationism. SMU does not teach creationism. Hell even Baylor doesn't teach creationism. Maybe Faulkner doesn't either but its a bottom of the barrel 4th tier religious institution with low standards. And I don't ever recall saying they did teach creationism, I said their professors(I never even originally mentioned biology professors either) would probably agree with their belief in creationism.

"Wouldn't want to upset anyone, they should graduate just for trying!", FFS.
