I don't understand the rage here. Most youtubers are genuine people who happened to become successful after years of dedicated work.

Now, pewdiepie, I just don't get it. He's just a goofball and has pretty much nothing productive to show for his work. But people like angry joe and or boogie2988 ? I'm very happy for them.

I've often thought I was creative enough to do the same thing...but every time I try to do something creative and distribute it publicly, nobody gets it and people think I'm an idiot.

Yeah, do not understand the draw of pewdie dude at all. Actually, I don't get why my kids watch most of those YT vids they do. It's just people screaming obnoxiously all day long. I used to watch Chris Smoove play COD. That was very entertaining, but he doesn't play it anymore. So, music videos is the extent of my youtubing or researching troubleshooting stuff.

I'm tire of people making millions off Youtube and I'm tire of the quality of gaming we get nowadays because Youtube is a free advertisement off hype for gaming developer and publisher.

It no coincidence gaming became bad the moment Youtube was created.

Youtube is the devil playground.
Words I would expect to come from a great future dictator.

Op is on crack. Gaming coverage has never been better since we get to see games in action and people playing them. There was a time when we had none of that.

I love the Biscuit Brit guy, his recommendation of PC games videos has opened me up to playing games I normally wouldn't try (and enjoy).

Youtube is at least half responsible for the rapid rise in old game prices in the last 5-10 years and the still ongoing daily exponential explosion of new collectors and re-sellers and interest in retro games. All the "look at my collection/hauls" and "unboxing" videos. These videos are they reason for the surge in awareness and the reason that if you aren't F5ing a retailer at 3 AM the exact microsecond when a new Fire Emblem CE or something like that goes live, you aren't getting one. They are the reason prices for old games, and even games that JUST CAME OUT for current production systems (cough Devil's Third cough), keep rising and rising and rising and rising....

So yes, I say kill it before freaking Duck Hunt is a $900 game cart only and before "out of stock" for NEW stuff becomes more common than it already is.

:D

Youtube is doing to game collecting as Barrett Jackson and Pawn Stars and all those types of programs have done to classic cars and other collectors, essentially shifting dinky little normal people hobbies into the exclusive realm of multi millionaires. Can't even go to yard sales now without someone wanting $200 for their bare no cables/controllers/games cigarette stained broken NES.

Another example an IBM PC 5150 is over $500 now too? And people are listing 384k 8 bit ISA RAM expansion cards for $999? This it the sort of awareness sites like Youtube spread faster than the plague. Apparently in home "personal retro computer museums" are gaining in popularity too now and everybody has to have one now.

Nothing is safe as long as sites like Youtube exist!

YouTube has a lot of helpful and informative videos as well as giving aspiring videographers a place to display their work. However, with the advent of phones with cameras and POV cams like GoPros, there are so many videos, many of them indistinguishable from the next, individual videos are lost in the flood.

As someone who seems to have very little time to play video games, let alone watch video games being played on unedited video, my only take on it, aside from that some people actually make money, is how much time some people are willing to spend playing and watching video games. Maybe the next step will be to have YouTube videos of people watching TV, Netflix or, YouTube videos. With VR, won't even have to get out of bed.

Sorry, this post is silly. DON'T WATCH YouTUBE! End of discussion. I personally find YouTube extremely helpful (Gopher's vids in particular) for modding games and general PC "how to"info.

I like Youtube best for the obscure how to's. The things where you think you know, but aren't exactly sure and don't want to accidentally break something. Such as specific laptop models or vehicle pieces.

OP: you are alone in the wilderness, shaking your fists as you yell at the clouds.

YouTube has not changed the quality of games. People only make millions off of YT videos if tens of millions of people are entertained by them. Your ideas are bad and you should feel bad.

Tired of people making millions off YT? Hey I'm happy someone is making millions, it's what makes the world go round ya know. I did'nt used to watch YT but this past 2 years I've found some content I enjoy. Granted some of it is pure clickbait though.

bad, right? let's name some games which are awesome.
because Youtube is a free advertisement off hype for gaming developers and publishers.
yeah, there are no negative game reviews on youtube.
It no coincidence gaming became bad the moment Youtube was created.
before youtube, all games were awesome.

Youtube is the devil's playground.

Bad games have been around as long as consoles so I see zero correlation. If anything, it calls attention to crappy games before they are released. In the past, you had to wait on an issue of EGM or whatever to at least get a review and a couple screenshots.

Yeah cynical brit is sharp, wish I had that level of talent in noticing and describing things like he does. I also like the nostalgia critic

Sucks that TotalBiscuit has terminal cancer, though. :'(

To be fair I could probably relate to OP if I was strapped to a chair with all of my limbs bound and a gun held to my head being forced to watch endless "Let's Play" videos.

I consider myself fortunate I can simply opt not to watch.

There's a lot of different YouTube 'personalities' to choose from... if you don't like smarmy, annoying PewdiePie (I don't) there's hopped-on-something Markiplier, overly-gentle British Dawko, only a little overly-excited Razzbowski... cursing-like-pirate guys all the way to "oh my" sweet old granny!

If you want to see some gameplay before plunking your hard-earned cash, get past a hard spot, learn a new technique, etc... at least you have choices for compatibility. ;)

I think people make more on Twitch than on Youtube, well except for Pewdiepie (Disney also pays him).

And yes TotalBiscuit a year ago came out and said he has full on cancer.
