Am I the only one who hates the White Stripes?

Not a big fan, but their pure rawness and energy reminds me of real rock music, which is a good thing. To each their own.

They are not your current cookie cutter type wannabe band, they march to the beat of their own drum. I have to respect that.

I don't particularly like nor dislike them, to me they sound pretty generic for today's pop music.
 
jack white is cool, esp. with the racountours(sp?)

meg white is the worst drummer known to man.
 
I saw em open for Bob Dylan last year. Didn't think they were bad ... but didn't think they were any better than your average garage band either.

I agree. Excellent performance. I really dig slide guitar.
 
Some songs are okay, but every one of their albums contains some HORRENDOUSLY BAD MUSIC. They are a compilation-only band. I find Meg White mildly attractive, but she isn't a very strong drummer.
 
White Stripes is not for me 🙁

My Chemical Romance / Iggy Pop / The Doors / Imogen Heap / Leonard Cohen / Fair to Midland / etc FTFW!
 
A majority of their songs are poorly written... I feel as if my brain wants to tear itself away from my ears when I hear ones like "We love one another".
 
They rock!!!! They're probably hit or miss, but I really like them. I like their beats and i'm seeing them live this Sept in SD!! woo!

Supposedly she plays that way because that's what Jack wants. I like it actually.

I find it difficult to imagine that somebody play that badly on purpose, her playing indicates a complete lack of originality, complete inability to play any sort of even beat, and a total lack of tempo. If you want drumming that is "minimalist" and actually requires talent to play listen to Led Zeppelin, if you want drumming that anybody can do with ease after 2 weeks of lessons listen to White Stripes.


I think that Jack White is a decent player, but his work with white stripes doesn't show that at all. His playing there just sounds disjointed and random (not the case with his other work).

Painfully bad drums + disjointed/random guitar != rock IMO
