I just wonder if I'm the only one out here that thinks the Ipod sucks. I see these kids with thier Ipods and I'm wondering if they know how crappy they are. I see my friend all the time complaining about how they've cracked the screen on it or that it died. It just baffles me, is the reason why people think it's so "great" is that because of marketing?

Acutally I would consider my hate for macs (operating system and all) and Ipods different categories.
 
The ipod's not bad, but there are certainly better products out there. I only hate it because it's a fad, and I hate most fads.

I don't think I'll get an MP3 player for a long time though...too expensive!
 
I have a 128mb flash mp3 player that runs on 1 AA battery and it is great for what I use it for. I use it for jogging and listening to on the way home on the bus. After 2-3 days I just load new songs on there. I guess if I was really lazy I could see this as a hassle but it takes like 2 minutes.

Mabye for someone who travels a lot it would be useful.
 
i have the original first gen 5gig. ive never had any trouble whatsoever with it, over the 2+ years ive had it. i wouldnt think of even looking at anything else for a replacement- its absolutely perfect in every way. i say that through long-term experience as absolute, incontrovertible fact.
 
I'm of the opinion that there are tons of better mp3 payers out there. I have owned a number of them. The user interface is what sets ipod apart. I haven't used an easier to use mp3 player than the ipod. For the people here on these forums, we can get around techy stuff pretty well, but common folk have problems. Companies have some work to do in the ease of use department.
 
I still haven't found a comparible MP3 player to the Mini. It's easy to use, looks good, built like a tank, and sounds good to me.

I've looked at other brands but just couldn't get over the clunky UI's they had or didn't like the size of them.
 
lol, i see "ipod" in a thread title and i automatically want to post die in a fire.

i dont have one, and will probably never own one
 
ipods are good, but certainly not on a budget basis. who really is going to put 40 gigs of music on and listen to it all?
i have trouble enough listening to my 4.33 gigs of mp3=
