Am I the only one that thinks the Ipod sucks?

voted no and yes.

after my experience with the iaudio m3, i think the soon-coming iaudio m5 will be a formidable challenger to the ipod.

I've found mine to suit my purposes well. If you can find a good price on it then yeah it's worth it. Other mp3 players still tend to be bigger (at least at the time I was looking around). I listen to most of the 15 gigs of music I have on there. It's built solid and still looks good.

I've always liked iRiver players and I hope the next MP3 player I get will be an iRiver.

Exactly how I feel. They have done well with the marketing, and a lot of people won't go out to find the better/cheaper/more featured alternatives.

But I don't think the Ipods themselves suck.

I don't think I'll get an MP3 player for a long time though...too expensive!

The thing is there aren't better products out there. They may be more reliable or something, but they are all either bigger or don't hold nearly as much.

Huh?

My 40 gig Nomad holds as much as a 40 gig Ipod?

Acutally I would consider my hate for macs (operating system and all) and Ipods different categories.

Why do you hate them, i dont understand how you can techincally "hate" a product, much less a computer product

Ipods definately are not the best mp3 player out there right. Marketing made is seem that way but the Ipod is really not the best of the best.

For all those people who voted "Yes, there are better MP3 players than the iPod"... Care to give me an example? Compared to the 60 GB iPod Photo, everything else on the market looks like crap in comparision.

I'll take one if it's free, but I won't buy it using my own money. That goes for all Apple products.

Did someone say Free Ipod? :Q

You did. I only said free.

Just so much about it I don't like. It's my opinion, why should you care?

I personally like the iRivers, but I must admit that the design for that little wheel thing on the iPod is pretty intuitive

Why should you care what we think of the iPod?

I think the poll results are accurate.
The Ipod is kinda neat, but the iRiver and iAudio players are far more interesting when it comes to spending my money (I'm at a tooss-up between the iAudio U2 and iRiver iFP-899).

Because the iPod LOOKS GREAT, is small, holds tons of mp3s and data, extremely easy to use, affordable did I mention that it LOOKS GREAT?

The interface is much more intuitive than the clunky alternatives. I mean, would you rather drive a car that looks like the interior of a 747 or a car with a gearshift, steering wheel, and pedals: as long as they operate and perform the same way?
It's about ease of use. Most people don't want to have to read an 80 page manual to play music.

no/yes

I've had my Second Gen. 10GB iPod for awhile now, and have yet to have any problems with it (at least not iPod related... iTunes gave me tons of problems, but I switched back to Ephpod, which solved my issues).

I got a pretty good deal on it, though. Paid less than retail price, and it included the full retail iPod + a crapload of accessories. But if I were shopping for a brand new MP3 player today, I wouldn't buy another iPod.

i got mine for free through one of those free.com sites

paid the 70 bucks education discoutn to get the 40 version.

got a case for it.

it hasn't left my side once, i absolutely love it. battery life is more than i could ask for, i don't use it for more than 12 hrs at a time. The sound to me is fairly acceptable, it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination..controls are easy and it's a slick looking jobby.

like i said, it hasn't left my side once and i wonder how i'd live without it now.

granted there are probably better/cheaper. but I've had 0 problems and 0 complaints

..I bought one for my nephew for x-mas..and played around with it a little..didn't sound any better then my iRock..seemed to be of a trashy retro kind of styling..and I wouldn't wana drop it either. My iRock's been thru hell..by right it shouldn't work..but it does..but for a 11 year old who wanted the latest trendy gadget..he got it.
