They should look at Chukchas, eskimos, etc. They eat reindeer year round. It would be nice to see what the side effects are.

Congrats on the weight loss. That was the easy part. Now to keep it off. :)

I was watching CNN Presents, and they were talking about weight loss and diets. They state that the problem is not losing weight, as most people are able to lose weight on any of the diets today. The main problem is keeping the weight off. They suggest picking something you can stick to for life. That sounds like good advice to me.

One of the researchers they interviewed catalogued a list of 3000 dieters who have lost 30lbs+ and managed to keep it off for 2 years +. Here are some of the things they noticed about the dieters:

- usually failed initially at keeping the weight off
- don't deny themselves of foods they like
- eat 5 meals daily
- exercise regularly

The program also reported that many of them were on high carb diets.

So if you're on low carb and it's working, that's great. If this is something you can maintain for life, then great. I couldn't do it personally. I tried low carb and did lose some weight, but since my main goal is gaining muscle mass it was quite counterproductive.

I see your point. But it is of no relevance.
We are set in our ways of eating meat. Unless you go an educate a majority of the population and get them to switch, nothing is going to change.

Pubic hair should be genetically obsolete. Humans have gone long over 600 years without wearing clothes. Why hasn't pubic hair stopped growing?
Or our tail bone?
Or the appendix?
Such simplistic views of evolution can't explain thoes.

You realize that you are backing up my contention that we are genetically predisposed to eating meat, as determined by our ancestors dating back thousands of years? Yes, we still have body hair, a tail bone, an appendix, and we can still digest meat. So why not eat it?

Yes, I realize that.
Though, I'd like to see some written works supporting your opinion

We can also handle crack cocaine and LSD, so why not take it?

Duh because meat doesn't hurt our bodies and crack does?
If people werren't predisposed genetically why are there different races?

Which opinion? That prehistoric man ate alot of meat? I don't need to provide links to support that claim.

Ephedrine, which is comes from the amphetamine family. I find it strange how he can question other peoples well thought out diet while he was popping stimulants for three months straight while working out, no less. Losing 86lbs in three months can't possibly be healthy. I think you would have a hard time finding a doctor who would approve of such a drastic course.

I worked out at 4-5am-> then around 10-11am ate about 4 oz tuna/chicken/etc, some veggies, a pita or white rice....then starved until 5pm, ate some more like above and ran again at night for 30-45mins.

Weight dropped off....the EC stack worked awesome for me.

Actually my doctor didnt approve of it....it worked though.

Most of what I do people don't approve. I do my own research though, and I gotz lotz of science in my education bag.

Hah! So what makes your unhealthy method of weight loss "right," and Dr. Atkin's "unhealthy" method wrong?

I love how he bashes a real lifestyle change and yet thinks that starvation + amphetamines are perfectly fine. Hypocrisy at its best. Have fun staying on that one for any substantial amount of time.

Spring of 2001 I was 268 lbs. Started Atkins off and on (sometimes I went weeks off it) and even with my really undisciplined approach to Atkins, I weighed 204 when I stepped on the scale this morning. Shooting for 185 eventually.

lalalalalalalalala

I lost my weight in 1996....I will destroy most now, absolutely beat their a$$ until oblivion. You won't even get a chance to call your mommy.

I am a 7 year of college level biologist + experience in *real* lifting and exercising since I was 15.

I am 32 now. When I am exercising I can eat absolutely what I *want*...fortunately I like drinks more than chocolates and sugars and pork chops (your mother holds them dear, she barks like a seal as I throw them to her).

suck it down fatty.

Thank you, alkemyst, for degenerating the thread into, "I can beat you up therefore I'm right."
