a ****** tip is, by my definition, any gratuity under 17% for service which one's peers would judge as adequate or better

Well screw the webowner :|

wtf, I still didn't make it...

Wow. I'd be pretty pissed if I found my name in there. Not that I could likely do a damn thing about it I suppose.

i got a $73 tip on $187.

i was happy, but it was a double grat, as i had included an 18% gratuity on it already as it was a party of 6, and we grat 6 or more. he paid cash, but i did end up chasing him down as he left the building and told him "sir, i was not sure if you were aware, but gratuity was included on the check"

he said he was not aware, but i could keep it anyway.

i was happy :D

That website is a POS and a violation of peoples privacy.

One could easily track down the restaurant and sue.

Of course the waitstaff that posts the complaint about the bad tip don't say what kind of service they provided.

Maybe they should also include a rebuttal area. Where the customer could bitch and moan about the craptacular service that resulte din a sh1tty tip.

I always tip 15%

I pull out my cell phone.. enter the total and multiple by .15

I like to round up.. so it might be a little more than 15%.

but one thing I do not do is..

put money in those tip jars at starbucks, chipotle, etc.

oh well.

Wow, talk about highlighting why tipping is a fatally flawed concept ;)

Basically, these people work on the premise that they are entitled to some massive amount on top of the bill, and that's what it takes to get good/any service. It appears to create an awful and arrogant customer service culture, the mindset seems to be 'Unless you give me as much money as i demand, i'm not going to do the job i'm HIRED AND PAID TO DO, and you're gunna get sh1t service!1!!!!one!!1eleven!'

Pay the idiots a sensible wage, employers expect that they give great service all round or they get their fat behinds fired, no unpleasantness or awkwardness for the customer, everyone wins ;) Before you attempt to claim that my suggestion couldn't possibly work, it works perfectly here, and in many other countries in the world. We pay the stated price, get great service in the main without bribing anyone to do what they're there for, they get a decent wage, and as i said, everyone is a winner...

The biggest problem is that many states (mine included), if you work a tip job, they do not have to pay you minimum wage. This does not mean you should tip someone for giving poor service, but you should tip fairly for expected service.

I understand they need tips now because they actually get paid under the min wage here. I just dont like the idea of tipping. Like said before...why do we have to pay more for something they should be doing as part of their job. A tip should be something like..hey you did a real good job, thx..heres some extra cash. Not oh when i go out to eat i need to factor in this much just becuase its how it works. I am in Japan right now...I have WANTED to tip people here because they are so god damn good at what they do...but they wont let you.

I dont understand why we tip other things too. Like hair cut places....I am coming to you, to cut my hair. I expect a good haircut....i am pahying you the stated price to pay my hair...why do i need to pay them more afterwards?

Just in case you were not aware most states pay these people 2.13 an hour to do said job. I think 15% is a fair asking percentage.

I wasn't aware of that i'll admit, but it only reinforces my belief that the tipping culture and those minimum wage laws that ensure it's existence are fundmentally flawed, and to no one's advantage except employers (and even then, they suffer from dissatisfied customers who don't tip, or worse, don't tip enough(!!!!) and get crappy service, if they paid them a proper minimum wage then they'd have full control over the level of service their business provides...)...

I agree with that, pay more by the hour and service would be much better. Just wanted to throw that out at you
