Wow, talk about highlighting why tipping is a fatally flawed concept
Basically, these people work on the premise that they are entitled to some massive amount on top of the bill, and that's what it takes to get good/any service. It appears to create an awful and arrogant customer service culture, the mindset seems to be '
Unless you give me as much money as i demand, i'm not going to do the job i'm HIRED AND PAID TO DO, and you're gunna get sh1t service!1!!!!one!!1eleven!'
Pay the idiots a sensible wage, employers expect that they give great service all round or they get their fat behinds fired, no unpleasantness or awkwardness for the customer, everyone wins

Before you attempt to claim that my suggestion couldn't possibly work, it works perfectly here, and in many other countries in the world. We pay the stated price, get great service in the main without bribing anyone to do what they're there for, they get a decent wage, and as i said, everyone is a winner...
