Going back to post one, I am still trying to figure out why is Glen Beck is rallying around the Lincoln Memorial. The message is bring no sign, say nothing, and somehow it will bring us all together.

Sounds more to me like Beck is just trying to get a bunch of adulation, show he is a political force to be counted, and only a bus ticket says love. Be there or be square.

And once assembled, Beck can lead his followers into the promised land. Or fantasy land, whichever comes first.

Quit being an ass.

Laughing at a public demonstration of buffoonery has nothing to do with tolerance. I can't even imagine how you might think it does.

Please consult your talking point attack list to find something more appropriate.

Sometimes I think some people shake their heads like a "Magic 8Ball" till some thought falls out. lol

Mr. Beck ... has requested that no signs be brought and says that the rally is geared towards unity and finding common ground among us all.

Hilarious. Of course they don't want signs because they would be idiotic and make Beck look bad. And if you don't have any message, that's just retarded too. What's the point?

"Yes we can" was silly and so is "common ground." They both sound nice but mean absolutely nothing.

Beck is a looney tunes hack. I feel sorry for the sheep who take this guy seriously.

My brother-in-law who is one of the most intelligent, informed people I know is a big Beck fan. To say I was somewhat shocked when I found that out would be an understatement.

....

This.

They have to tone back the hate rhetoric before the election.

No one has to take Beck at his word. But on the off chance he's actually trying to unite folks and show them things they have in common, I'll ask the question again - is it good or bad? Is it even possible to do so? Is it good that at least someone is trying to do so? Our dear leader is the master of divisiveness. Is our future as a country better with us at each other's throats or would it be better if we could be more civil and tolerant of one another?

M: Nice sentiment, nice attitude, nice idealism, nice goals, but you are talking about Glenn Beck, a certifiable nut case. I can't go out on that limb with you and remain faithful to keeping it real. From a snake I expect snake behavior. Sometimes stereotyping is good for survival.

You do realize that you telling him to "quit being an ass" he will interpret as you trying to stifle his right to free speech. He's a fucking psycho who can't tell right from wrong and seems to have the reading comprehension of a 9 year old. Don't expect your words to sink in to his head.

As far as Beck goes. He tries to claim that he isn't doing this to evoke images of MLK. But considering the place and day he is holding it, we all know what's true. And he has multiple times made claims involving taking back civil rights movement or whatnot. He envisions himself a new age Martin Luther King, Jr. but the cause he's fighting for doesn't even exist. He wants to end socialism, tyranny, tea party shit that isn't even real. That'd be like me trying to start a group to end the suffering of the Who's down in Whoville!

Glenn Beck is no Martin Luther King, Jr. He's nothing like him. He's playing on the irrational fears of easily controlled and ignorant or crazy people to get him fame, glory, money, and power. Instead of trying to evoke images of MLK, Glenn Beck to me evokes very strong imagery of David Koresh and Jim Jones. He's a crazy cult leader, not a civil rights leader. And his followers are all drinking the Kool-Aid.

So if someone were to laugh and make fun of those at a gay pride parade, they wouldn't be called intolerant?

Of course not, tolerance is only reserved for the progressive view points, all others are "hate mongering, conservative, republican assholes" haven't you heard?

No because this circle jerk is being funded by a nonprofit charity supposedly and making it "political" in any sense will get them in trouble with the IRS.

Glenn Beck supporters head for Washington, D.C., rally

Tomorrow, the 28th of August is the 8/28 rally Glenn Beck has organized on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Busloads are coming in from all over the country. Some from as far as California.

Mr. Beck states that the rally is not political in nature, has requested that no signs be brought and says that the rally is geared towards unity and finding common ground among us all.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Well for mental patients all field trips are basically a good thing.

I wonder if Beck supporters ever realize that he's taking you fools for a ride and probably doesn't believe half the crazy shit he says. He's just acting like a nutjob to get ratings.

I'm very much for their equal rights in society but that they feel a need to be "special" does indeed go against equality.

And yeah, i think that it's stupid and should be laughed at because it IS ridiculous to want special treatment AND equality at the same time.

Maybe Beck is a hero. After GWB 2004 I decided it's probably just best if stupid people get exploited. Maybe Beck is the man doing the exploitation. Too bad he has to act like a buffoon in order to exploit though. :p
