Glenn Beck supporters head for Washington, D.C., rally

Tomorrow, the 28th of August is the 8/28 rally Glenn Beck has organized on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Busloads are coming in from all over the country. Some from as far as California.

Mr. Beck states that the rally is not political in nature, has requested that no signs be brought and says that the rally is geared towards unity and finding common ground among us all.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I'm sure that there will be supporters who will defend to their death his right to speak his mind. By death I mean, "Don't piss us off or we'll kill you."

Circus!

Remember, the fine print says all costs associated with the event will be deducted from the donations first.

I live about 6 miles away from this. I am torn. On the one hand, part of me wants to take my camera down there and get epic shots. On the other hand, a larger part of me wants to lock my doors and spend the entire weekend inside. Hmmm

Take your guidance from the order in which you listed your choices.

That sounds like a lot of the people who are against the mosque. Sounds like you might be a racist.

Several groups have already criticized Beck for holding it in the same place MLK Jr. held his I have a dream speech and tried to pressure him to move it. Where are the tolerant lefties when it comes to the free speech of people on the right? Where is Obama making a statement that Beck is protected by the Constitution to hold the speech here? We already have accusations in this thread about where the money is going to and how its being spent. Why is the left condemning everyone because the actions of a few?

This sounds REALLY familiar.. Hmmmm.. What recent event is like this.. :hmm:

Beck is a looney tunes hack. I feel sorry for the sheep who take this guy seriously.

Most of the people I know on the left are laughing their asses off about what a buffoon Beck is making himself out to be here. Let him hold his rally. The only thing I find offensive is that some people might actually show up.

Well he is an epic troll. He once called up a rival radio dj's wife up on air after she had just had a miscarriage and laughed at and insulted her.

This isn't the million man march on MSNBC.

Ahh, the left. Tolerance only for those that share their views. Always failing and never knowing why. Not to say that there isn't always someone else to blame.

Reminds of my 15 year old grandson that just got his driving permit. He backed out of his driveway taking out a solar light and instead of admitting his error, he blamed it on the placement of the light. Loudly too.

Most of those people on the left you know are going to be mad as hell this fall when they lose control over Congress. The only thing they know is that it sure as hell won't be because of cramming an agenda down the throats of people that didn't want it. It will be because they're still smarter than everyone else and everyone else is just not as enlightened as they are. History repeats.

No one has to take Beck at his word. But on the off chance he's actually trying to unite folks and show them things they have in common, I'll ask the question again - is it good or bad? Is it even possible to do so? Is it good that at least someone is trying to do so? Our dear leader is the master of divisiveness. Is our future as a country better with us at each other's throats or would it be better if we could be more civil and tolerant of one another?
