from the descriptions, i had no idea what the monkey method was until I youtubed it. how is this nuance significant? it really makes no difference in the eating experience.

The difference is showing that you know how to properly open a banana. The eating experience can be hampered when you have the stem dangling awkwardly when trying to eat though.

Sure it may be a small thing, but it's still an important step in being a normal person.

Just like potatoes, etc., the "peel" is where most of the nutrition is!

Hopefully that isn't meant to demean the proper way of peeling or to say that a monkey couldn't be better at something than a human. Respect nature and respect the way bananas are meant to be peeled.
