I need to do something like that in my Dutch oven so bad.

I just used a big stock pot. It was a great way to use up most of a pound of carrots, half a sack of potatoes and 3.5 lbs of beef shoulder. Oh, and two containers of sliced crimini mushrooms. I need to get a cast iron dutch oven.

My secret to flavor? MSG. Every kitchen needs a bottle of this:

The week before last I did a pantry clearing stew. I was running low on sage, thyme and italian seasoning and had a whole chicken in the freezer. Chicken and dumplings for the win.

Sounds delicious. I have to give that a shot. I'm running low on flour too, need to use it up and get more.

I've only had asian dumplings once in my life, and it was at a buddy's house when I was in middle school; they were delicious. I had chicken and dumplings several times a year every year growing up, and figured out how to make it on my own pretty darn quick.

I like the pillow dumpling, it's a biscuit dough that is cooked over a chicken stew. The edges are goey and delicious, the innards a cloud of flavor. I find it makes chicken stew chicken godliness, and the flavor combinations are limitless. You can have any kind of stew you want, and you can use fresh herbs in the dumpling dough(Italian flat leaf parsley is my favorite, but any work) to kick it up a notch.

It's different. They're basically just pieces of biscuit dough that soak up the stock that they're cooking in. No different than mopping up a plate with bread.

Reminds me of the time I caught the flu and it hit me very suddenly, could not make it to the toilet or other proper receptacle on time. Can't judge without trying though. Poutine looks kinda gross for someone who has never tried it, but it's the most awesomest bestest tastiest food ever.
 
It's so hard getting out of night shift mode! 2nd day off after night shifts, it's 4:50am and I'm not even tired. Does not help that my alarm clock did not work this morning so I woke up at 4pm. Had it set all wrong, I have no clue what even happened since I remember specifically making sure it was 12PM and not AM. Was pissed when I realized that.

I would not bother trying to get out of night shift mode if I was constantly working night shifts and did not have to ever get up early, since I'm more productive at these times, but getting up early is a bitch so I have to ease in to it. My next set of shifts is 7am to 7pm shifts. Soooo hard getting up that early. I tend to get more nights though, since that's what I asked for. Much easier to get up whenever I want, and just show up to work for 7pm, than to get up and be at work for 7am.

Btw, did you take a big dump on 11/06? How'd you lose 4# in 4 days? Detox?

My weight loss has roughly been 32 lbs in 12 weeks. Almost 3lbs every week. I actually skipped my workout that weekend so my calorie intake was a bit lower...I may even have missed a meal.

I will have an update on my weight tomorrow more than likely. Usually weigh on Thursdays, but I forgot this morning. I came in at 206 after my protein shake and water which weighed a little over 2lbs on a scale. Not going to count an 'adjusted' reading though.
 
..... and back to food.

Had another greek yogurt with honey and granola for lunch. I think I posted about it on Tuesday too.
