Not sure if it was mentioned or not, but completing the "Hat Trick" achievement in Alien Swarm will unlock the Alien Swarm Parasite hat in TF2. All you have to do is complete two online campaigns on any difficulty in order to get an awesome alien headcrab-like hat for TF2. A free game and a free tf2 hat!

Oh sweet, I'll have to DL this tonight. I bought Alien Breed during a sale recently and have been really enjoying it.

Finally, after hundreds of hours I'll have a TF2 hat. THANKS FOR NOTHING, TF2 DROP SYSTEM!

It's fun, but there is a sudden difficulty spike when you hit the level where you move the bomb along the rail.

Only played one level so far but it was fun. Here's to hoping a strong community develops that puts out some quality content.

Yes, that's where my two-man team got ground into chunks repeatedly last night.

If anyone wants to play tonight around 9 pm EST, I'm Riddleofsteel on steam.

Downloaded the game last night (after many unsuccessfly "Steam servers overloaded" errors I changed my downloaded region to Ukraine and got 500kb/s lol). Played 2 games with random ppl and I could see that this game would be very fun with friends or AT ppl who actually stick together.

Can someone explain to me how to do that 2nd hack on the first level as a Tech? The part where the whole team "holes up" to defend the tech who has to hack a door? The minigame is like 4 columns of lines going up/down and on the right-pane is the diamond shape of 4 rectangles. I had no idea how to do it :(.

Lol, I'm terrible at hacking, but my friend said u need to line up the 1's or something.

I'm starting to really like this game now. Insane difficulty really makes you think about your team layout and what you need to do in the level. I couldn't imagine doing it without friends though.

I'm curious on how well they ported this game to the source engine. You should let us know.

Is the original mod any good? I might get it just to get a fix while more content gets cooked up for the source version.

so uh, how do you get more ammo? I ran out quickly.

too bad you can't play online by yourself, only in offline practice.

Seems kind of meh though.

Some maps have a little ammo re-supply here and there, plus things like tanks of flame-thrower fuel etc.

Yeah the name of the game is teamwork. I personally almost always play a chainsaw/medigun Medic so that ammo isn't a concern for me (can't refill the medigun anyways *sadface*), and also my teammates get more ammo out of packs since one less person needs it. I like it though, you have to actually think ahead and ration supplies or you might screw you and your team later.

In the last campaign I completed I was the sole survivor on my team, with no weapons or anything left to use so I was rolling around desperately trying to dodge swarms before I could escape (my 3 dead teammates were shouting "Do a barrel roll!" while having a laugh). Instantly became one of my favorite games. :awe:

On the flipside, I've died on two different occasions while a few feet away from the exit. :(

Ugh, I just played with a group of neanderthals. We need to get some AT games going.

YES!!! this is my biggest problem with online team based games.
I don't have a ton of "online friends" anymore, at least none that really play video games. Then I have to play with what are apparently idiots or in-breds in games.

Totally. Yesterday I got into a game with somebody who kept doing this ridiculous inhale laugh over his microphone. He was doing it to get laughs, but it got tiresome really quickly.

Anyone else notice that there's very little fire discipline? I've been shot by teammates now probably hundreds of times (while trying to dance around the action and stay in back), one guy even teamkilled me with a grenade. I was a medic that was keeping all those clowns alive, killing the team medic is just not on. Then later while spectating I heard someone say "heal me! heal me!", when I was dead. Then when they died they yelled '"MAN, WTF?". I felt like saying "I'd have healed you if I hadn't gotten tk'ed..." but I didn't.

I'm not sure if you need someones account handle or their chat handle in steam to add them, but I think I can be added by searching for kefka1983. Add me if you want to play today.

Played last night and enjoyed it! It could use more content and a bit more polish, but it's free and so you can't look a gift alien-killing game in the mouth. Overall pretty impressive!

I go by Engine on Steam (Green Marathon symbol avatar), though I can never find myself so you probably can't either... :)

This team has shown every other top down dev how to do this shit properly. Game runs flawlessly.
