Albums with more than 3 "hit" songs

Most of you guys are still missing the "more" in "more than 3," but whatever...

Anyway how about Superunknown by Soundgarden (Spoonman, Black Hole Sun, Fell On Black Days, My Wave [it had two more singles, The Day I Tried To Live and Superunknown, but neither got very much airplay]). Also Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt (Just A Girl, Spiderwebs, Excuse Me Mr., Don't Speak [and also Sunday Morning, once again little airplay]).

Oh, and Matchbox 20's first record, whatever it was called (Push, 3AM, Back 2 Good, Real World).

I doubt there's ever been a record that has had more than 3 actual number one hits on Billboard (maybe an early Beatles album).

Um, any Beatles album. Duh.

Boston's debut album - More Than A Feeling, Peace Of Mind, Foreplay/Long Time, Rock and Roll Band, Let Me Take You Home Tonight. That's FIVE.

No Doubt's "Tragic Kingdom" is one of my favorite CD's. There are only two songs on that CD that I don't love.

: ) Amanda

Lots of radio airplay

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced
The Who - Who's Next
AC DC - Back in Black
Beatles - any album
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Led Zeppelin - II, IV
Pink Floyd - DSOTM, The Wall
Pearl Jam - Ten
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Alice in Chains - Dirt

Lots of singles chart success

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad
Hootie - Cracked Rearview
Mariah Carey - early albums
Whitney Houston - 1st album
Shania Twain - whatever that album was called
Boyz II Men - whatever that album was called

Just to prove that having more than 3 is not a major feat:

George Michael's Faith - Title track, Father Figure, I Want Your Sex, One More Try

That's right, George Michael. Heck, maybe even Milli Vanilli qualifies.

Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation, Janet

Edit: This one just hit me, can't believe I didn't think of it before...

Madonna - lots of albums, especially the early ones

DMX- It's dark and hell is hot (ruff ryders anthem, get at me dog, hows it goin down, stop being greedy,) and i can feel it and for my dogs both got a bunch of airplay too

Mariah Carey - Butterfly (Honey, Butterfly, My All, Breakdown, The Roof, Whenever You Call[?])
Mariah Carey - Music Box (Dreamlover, Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend, Without You)
Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey (Love Takes Time, Vision of Love, I Don't Wanna Cry, Someday)
Mariah Carey - Daydream (Fantasy, Underneath the Stars, One Sweet Day, Always Be My Baby)

Remember, just because they're "hits" doesn't mean they're good. I still don't get how "CRAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLING innnnn my skin" even got played.

Edit: Look above my post. See? 😀

U2: Greatest Hits, also known as Joshua Tree

"Best of.... and Greatest Hit albums do not count."

What are 3 from Puddle of Mudd.... I only know of 3

What he means is that the Joshua Tree album basically is a greatest hits album - it has most of U2's best songs on there and all were new songs when it was released in '87

Thank you, BITCH

Damn dude chill... I didn't know geesh

😛

I think those songs are very good.

Maybe the fact that I am a girl has something to do with that. 🙂

Yep. It would be more interesting to list albums that have more than 3 GOOD songs in 'em. In that case I would list.... Just about all Rammstein-albums.

Stone Temple Pilots - Purple (Vaseline, Interstate Love Song, Pretty Penny, Big Empty)
Stone Temple Pilots - Core (Sex Type Thing, Wicked Garden, Creep, Plush)
Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music...Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop (Big Bang Baby, Lady Picture Show, Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart)

Britney Spears - Oops! I Did It Again (Stronger, Lucky, Oops! I Did It Again, Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know)

I think they all hit #1 on the Billboard.

and

Britney Spears - Britney (I'm A Slave For You, Overprotected, I'm not a Girl (Not Yet A Woman) )

That's only three but I am sure there will be more.

Well,
i dont like britney spears but shes more or less omnipresent (sometimes you cant help it..), i never heard of the last song on the top one,
and the first 2 of the second one...

The only album that comes to my mind would be Linkin Park - HYbrid theory. At least 5 song from the cd got played on radio often

Def Leppard - Hysteria... Mutt Lange produced his life-work here, folks.
Women
Rocket
Animal
Love Bites
Pour Some Sugar On Me
Armageddon It
Hysteria <--DLs best by far

Tool - Aenima...uuhh errr, this has changed radio-metal as you know it

U2 - War yummy, yummy

Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year's Day <----personal fav

I know the thread is titled: more than 3 to make the list, but it takes heavy producing/engineering towards what is popular at that time to get more that 3 hits off from an album. Take Dookie, for instance (and throw it away..)

the wall:
happiest days of our lives/another brink in the wall par 2
mother
young lust
hey you
comfortably numb
run like hell
probably another but i'm not gonna listen to the whole album to figure out which

A LOT of the newer pop albums have had more than 3 hits.

Backstreet boys' really popular earlier album comes to mind.

As does britney spears.

More than 3, and way too many.

Linkin Park's album has more than 3. As does a couple Metallica albums, STP, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam's 10, Creed, TOOL's Aenima, Limp Bizkit, and Fuel.

I might be wrong about 1 or 2 of those, but I'm pretty sure I've got almost all of them nailed.
