Why are people so bad at understanding the intention of analogies? It's not like saying that two things are similar in one particular way is saying that they're comparable in all or really any other ways.

Of course by this point Dawkins should know that everything he says is going to be taken in the worst possible way and shouldn't really say things on Twitter at all. Age might be a factor working against that.

They aren't bad at understanding them, they choose to be when the topic/time is convenient.

Why does Dawkins suck at using proper analogies??

I'll be honest, if what he says is true in that video - We really didn't know shit about the whole situation at the time in-which it was incurred. This is still the first I'm hearing some of this.

1. Didn't know he was previously suspended - in particular for other hoax's
2. They made it out to be that the kid was ULTRA SUPER SMART and in honors classes. In my 12 years of public school I did my fair share of shit. I also wasn't in honor classes... In yet I still managed to never get suspended.
3. Didn't know his sister got in trouble for bomb threats
4. The media did indeed make it out to be like the school was on lockdown with a bomb threat. If the teachers got him in trouble simply because they knew it was a hoax, then it's also a different story than the one the media projected.

Was a big turning point, this case. The fact that anybody took his bullshit seriously for even a second made a lot of people lose faith in humanity. He could be the reason for Trump.
