Ok, so season 1 had 26 episodes.
Each one is about 22 minutes long.
Subtract from that 30 seconds for ending credits, and 35 seconds for the intro.
That's 32,630 seconds of show.
Subtract the 36-second recap at the start of episode 2, and we're down to 32,594 seconds of show.
@23.976fps, so that's about 781,474 frames total.

Searching Google with the string mlp fim site:deviantart.com yields 777,000 results.
(Leaving out the "fim" boosts it to 1.67M results.)
:D

You could have explained it easier if it was hard core pr0n, right? :D And it might have led to something fun too.
Or it could have been Rule34 MLP.
That could easily have been even more interesting.

Because of this thread I downloaded the series and started watching it. Just finished episode 13, and to be honest so far I am impressed. The first 2 episodes are what you'd expect initially, but after the pilot episodes the show really changes into just an entertaining and amusing show to watch. The animation is well done, the voice acting is very good, and the characters are consistent and amusing. If it wasn't for this show being based off of a girl's toy product line you'd see it reaching a wider audience and not encountering so much random internet rage.

That being said, I'm still not sure why it has gathered quite the following it has. I mean it is surprisingly good for what it is, but 29 pages of pony pictures and 4chan going insane for a while. Seems a bit much. I will definitely finished the series and likely keep up with season 2, but it lacks an over arching story line (so far) and thus is just a series of 25 minute quick watches for some lols.

I would however chose to watch MLP over Spongebob or many of the numerous other "kid" cartoons that air these days. MLP is childish without being stupid (Spongebob) and I think that is what sets it apart.

Favorite Pony: Pinkie Pie

I think I'm the only one that considers the pilot to be one of the best. It may have the largest "Awww, friends" and "Big fucking rainbow of love defeats the end boss" aspect which throws people off, but the way Twilight Sparkle develops away from her asocial side and everything is just so relatable and precious.

It's an amusing show with lead female characters and it doesn't suck. Yes there's the one character who is the fashion/boys one, but 1) The fashion thing is related to her running her own business, and 2) The "boys" thing only really came up in one or two episodes, and it wasn't really a major theme of the whole episode. And the animators seem to have fun with expressions. :)

And they sometimes slip in some vocabulary that's a bit more advanced than you might expect. One threw me - when Fluttershy was "politely" critiquing her new dress in one episode, she referenced "the armcye's tight." It's easily heard as a muddled "The arm's a size tight." It seems that she's actually using some terminology that's a bit above that. :)

I think someone on the animation team also spent some time watching sonic boom and explosion footage. They did the whole supersonic shock wave thing, and also the elimination of cloud formations after the sonic rainboom's blast front moved through.

And it's just....you know...entertaining.

That was allegedly Hasbro's doing, because in their opinion, the show's originally-intended target audience wouldn't be able (or perhaps willing) to keep up with any kind of ongoing arc. Because, you know, kids would never read books or anything of that nature which takes more than 5 minutes to go through from start to finish. (Anyone else here remember the Boxcar Children?)
Maybe it'll go down like Reboot - initially censored to death in the first season, then facing cancellation, they pull out the stops and send the system into open war. We'll find that Celestia really does live up to the Trollestia name*, and the mane cast will incite a violent rebellion. (Violent but fun.:awe:)

* - (Now seriously, Rarity and the Wonderbolts were falling to their deaths while Celestia was right there in the stadium, and she did nothing to help.)

I thought her established asocial characteristic departed too quickly to be very believable.

Agreed. (And I'm sure that a fair portion of the brony viewers are themselves still quite asocial, so it's not technically relatable then. :p)

It does show up in passing here and there in other episodes though. She does still seem to prefer quiet time, and long weekends of "crazy" studying, and shows little interest in crazy ponies:

lots of stuff

I didn't catch the thing about the armcye, that is sly.

Also, yes I remember Boxcar Kids, I started reading those in 3rd grade I think. Other than that there were other books I read or had read to me starting from a young age. Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe and the My Fathers Dragon. You are right that it seems like studios are dumbing down kids shows more than they need to be. Kids can handle more than people tend to think.

It would be excellent if the 2nd season offered an over arcing story line as well. We will just have to wait and find out. My goal is to finish the 1st seasons before the 2nd one airs on the 17th.

Which is a shame, Pinkie Pie is full of win for being so ridiculous.

And for god's sake, I watched Star Trek TNG. While it didn't really do much in the way of large story arcs either, it did have some episodes about diplomacy. Or court case episodes. We got to watch them have meetings.
Yes, kids watched that show. I watched those episodes. Alien diplomats arguing over territory disputes. You know, exciting shit that you can get right here on CSPAN8. Except it was in SPAAAAAACE! so therefore it was good and interesting. :D

Oh, and to keep things going here, a screencap: The Wonderbolts apparently got two new members.
