Chuck Todd did a piece on this idea the other day. He was concentrating on rust belt states (MI, OH, PA) where polling was showing much greater support among registered dems for democratic senate/house/etc candidates than for Obama.

There's no way a candidate as inexperienced as Obama would have made it out of the primaries if he didn't have the +1 skin color modifier.

Sure there's racism going on here:

1) Redneck whites not voting for him because he's black.
2) Hardliner blacks voting for him because he's black.
3) Liberal whites thinking they're doing the progressive thing voting for the black guy.
