You are the one discounting it. The burden of proof is on you. You cannot prove that holstic medicine is a crock of sh!t anymore than I can prove western medicine is a crock of sh!t. Not that I would want to. I'm just trying to point out the extremity of your views.
Again, any contribution to the advancement of medical science whatsoever. Any at all, no matter how small. Do you know of any?

The fact that many medicines have come from natural sources has nothing to do with holistic medicine. The conventional allopathic medical establishment has been aware of this for centuries, has never rejected it, and indeed has always embraced it.

That doesn't mean enemas made from ground dandelions and coffee must therefore be a treatment for some illness, but the challenge is to match the illness to the benefits of dandelion and coffee enemas.

Exactly. And those damned amputees are just lazy because they don't "will" themselves a new limb, too. I have no sympathy for them.

Ditto. ADHD is even funnier when you think about it. "OMG... kids with energy to burn, we must stop it now!"

More idiots for me to expose! Woopee!

FDK: If ADD does not exist, why is it that Dr. Amen can identify it via SPECT scans of the brain? Here's a nice brochure from his clinic: SPECT Brochure (pdf)

Note that those scans are also able to identify other disorders including depression and substance abuse.

I agree with Felix 100%. Hell, I think half the stuff people havenow is more in their heads then anything. Depression, ADD, irrational fear of this or that. Mainly in the gourd. Why do I say this? 50 or 100 years ago people didnt have these problems (Not to the extent they have today). Obviously, I simply wont believe these are problems which have only recently surfaced. Suddenly in the span of 10 years the human race develops ADD? Please.
Its the environment, which breeds a victimless society filled with quick fix actions. Eat right, live well and most importantly KEEP YOURSELF BUSY! Find a hobby, go outside. Too many people complain about depression, well hell man sittin in your house all day simply aint healthy!
But alas, I am but one man, and cant change overnight what society has created over time.

ADD: My parents wouldn't spend time with me or discipline me. They just put me in front of the TV and now I can't pay attention and have no social skills, but it's ok because parents who try to discipline their kids or make them do things they don't want to are bad.

you're guys are both idiots.

50 to 100 years ago, society and everyday life was not like it is today. there are SO MANY differences and changes in lifestyle that it would take days to hypothesize on all of them. TV, video games, telephones, people living in closer proximity to each other, people working in cubicles, being stuck in the same monotony day in and day out. life today is not as simple as it was then. being stuck in traffic for hours on end, living in apartments, working in cubicles, longer and longer distances separating work, friends, and family, higher costs of living, higher costs of ownership. there are so many causes of depression. pressure and expectations from one's peers, family, media, etc. life is not quite as simple or carefree as it was then.

using drugs to balance the mind is like using bowling balls to balance a scale.
but i think thats only true depending on the drugs and the "problems" those drugs are being used for. im sure the practice of medicine for mental problems will one day be looked on as horribly barbaric.
i dont know that i think ADHD is really the problem it is made out to be...

but anyway, things really have changed in our society but the teaching methods dont seem to have worked to well. there are simple and mostly asthetic changes in the educational field but i really feel like there needs to be a complete overhaul of how children are taught today

LMAO, run away, run away! like running away to the country will solve anything.

you'll just take the city with you. unless you live amish style, an exodus will not accomplish anything.

like i said before, you're an idiot. i have yet to see you come up with an intelligent response to anything. yes, google anything you want. but until you can analyize things for yourself, please STFU. just as there are those who doubt that ADD or depression exists, there are twice as many people who believe that they do.

we may have newer drugs to medicate ourselves, but alcohol has been around for AGES. it is the oldest, and the most widely used form of medication and escapism.

You would be correct. Neurological disorders are all in the head. That's where the brain is. It would be bizarre to find a neurological disorder, say, in the foot. Though, judging by some of the responses, it would not be entirely bizarre to find that some people have developed an odd neuropathway which results in all thought to be routed through their arse.
