Acura TL or Audi A4?

I'm still looking to get a used car, and I've narrowed my options down to these two models.

The Audi A4 has an AWD model that I like since it's gonna be winter here really soon. However, TL Type S model has 260 hp. I think either one is fine, and they are both in the category of "lower end" luxury cars. It all comes down to reliablity and maintainability.

Anybody got any opinions on reliablity? Which car is more costly to maintain?

TLS has 286hp and it is definately more reliable than an Audi.

However, I think the A4 is sexier on the exterior. TL wins on the interior though.

TL, are you kidding me.

First of all, Audis are not reliable. Second of all, mine leaked oil and we had to replace the turbos and a lot of other stuff.

I wouldn't get an Audi unless it was very new and had a very good warranty.

TL is more reliable, people who purchase an A4 don't buy it for the reliability though, and nor should you if that is a priority for you.

I've never been inside a TL, but the interior of the A4 is very nice.

My friend has a 02 TL. Bought it @ 50k miles. Transmission went out at 55k. Good thing he bought the extended warranty. Other than that hes pretty happy with his acura.

tl. if there's one thing the japanese can do it's make good cheap cars. if u can try and find the s one cause it comes in stick

Riiiight. There are very few cars that can even compete with the comfort and style of an Audi's interior, and Acuras definately aren't one of them.

Why do people even buy Acuras when they look, drive and feel nearly identical to their Honda counterparts.

If you want reliability buy a Honda, if you want a car buy the Audi.

Own a '04 TL A-Spec and I've never had a single problem with it. If you do get the TL, you HAVE to get the Navigation (standard on new 07 Type S I believe). It's not the same car without the navigation and Acura probably has the best navi out there.

I've been in both a TL and A4. The TL is a lot roomier imo, it can definatly accelerate a lot faster, and from what I've heard it's very reliable. I tend to think that the TL has a nicer exterior than the A4, but another thing to consider is the handling of both cars. Which size engine are you looking at on the A4?

I had a '00 TL and traded it in for an 05 TL...I have friends who have the current generation Accord and the previous ones as well (actually, who doesn't know someone that drives an Accord :)...)

The TL and the Accord do not 'feel' anything alike...The Accord has a basic, simple feel to it while the TL definitely feels more luxurious (although it is definitely not in the same class as a Lexus though)...

just my two cents...

Driving "feel" or interior "feel". The interiors are definitely different, but from what I've seen the driving characteristics are relatively similar.

Same reason for people who buy Audi over VW. Nothing wrong with Acura...they are ~3k less than Audi. And Acura's interior comes close to Audi. The design is the matter of preference, but material wise...Acura interior is pretty solid also.
