Acura prices TSX from $26,490

There are much better offerings in Acura's own lineup and other offerings from other manufacturers in terms of "sports sedans" that will make the TSX look like crap, within the same price range. I'm sure once they sell a whole 10 of them that they'll figure that out

200hp is "underpowered" when the whp ends up being 150fwhp. Honda loves to overrate its hp numbers, especially lately. Add on top of that their torqueless natures (relatively speaking), bloated weight, and you got a recipe for "underpowered". For example, the 200hp+ Eclipse GT-S is "underpowered" because it's a bloated POS and hp ratings are inflated. RSX TypeS? Only ~155hp fwhp. For <26k you can get a WRX which will blow the pants off the TSX in the performance dept.

Too bad the WRX blows at everything else (interior/exterior style dept, not to mention mechanical quality, features, etc.) 😉 I'm sure the acura will excel in all of those categories.

Not the US Accord platform. TSX is based on the European Accord platform. Different car entirely. Smaller. European Accord isn't offered with a V6, and it can't accomodate one. Not enough room in the engine bay.

I think "different car entirely" is a bit of an overstatement. The American and Euro-Accords aren't exactly the same, but a Park Avenue and an Echo are "different cars entirely". 😛

In any case, the TSX is only marginally smaller than the Accord. I think they could have easily modified the engine bay slightly if they truly wanted to put a V6 in. In fact, unless Honda has said so, we have no way of knowing if they could get one in there as-is (just because they don't offer it in Europe either doesn't mean they couldn't).

I'm planning to get this car because of the fully equiped packages that are already standards; such as leather seats, power driver seat, heated seats, sound system, alloy, moonroof, and lots of other bells and whistles. If you pick the I4 version of the Accord w/ the same features and 160HP, the price would only be $3K less. I think driving an Acura looks helluva lot better than driving a Honda anyday. There are buyers out there that aren't buying a car for the power, but for the luxury package. Me, for instance. A BMW or IS300 w/ all the same features would run $4K-$6K more than the TSX. I was never a Honda nor Acura fan (hence the VW I have), but I truly believe they pushed the TSX out to appeal only to certain groups of buyers rather than trying to win the public eyes. TSX has everything I want and need AND it's a quality-built car. I have no complaint.

RSX is smaller and less "mature". Not the same category.

EDIT: What I mean is that the RSX is not an "adult's" car, the RSX is for kids who are in college or who are fresh out of college. The TSX is aimed at people in their late 20's and early 30's as opposed to the early-to-mid 20's demographic of the RSX.
 
I'm kind of curious what the "the TSX is too expensive and underpowered" crowd have to say about the bmw 325i. It has less hp, costs about 2Gs more and doesn't even come with leather standard/sunroof. That's another almost 3K.


 
Went to look at one today at the Acura dealership...

Damn, it looks good in person. Needs atleast 240HP for that price though..

And Meteor Silver Metallic is one awesome looking color in person.. wow..
 
My local Acura dealer has an Aegean Blue out front. Honda has the shrewest bean counters in the world. This car exists for the same reason as the Cayenne, Escalade, X-type, and LS exist. Porsche, GM, and Fordx2 watched millions if not billions of dollars walkout of their showrooms due to NO offerings. The X-type and LS in particular are good enough for the people who want a Jag or a Lincoln sedan but don't want a Subaru and can't afford a 5-series, respectively.

NFS4 don't joke yourself. The niche market it will fit will be enthusaist drivers who've grown up with great cars like the CRX (believe it not a fun sport small car of its time..), the Integra GS-R, the Civic Si...This is a comfortable, sporty japenese sedan..and a small one at that. I think 15,000 units will sell no problem. The TSX is a great car, I like it a lot.

Audi's are great cars no doubt- but the A4 1.8T..please. Everybody has one. You see them left and right. Additionally this car is SLOW. let's break it down

quattro auto- 16.6
quattro 5spd- 16.1
fwd 5spd- 16.2
fwd multitronic- 15.9

Straight from Audiworld forums. The 1.8T is WEAK. 325i.. Ok a nice car- no doubt. Everyone's knockin on the TSX but I think it's a great car. I guess the sales numbers will speak for themselves. TSX runs what a 15.5?

Seems like Honda didn't even have the decency to used an updated H22A in it. They're using the US Accord's 4 banger with tweaks. I'm going to the NY auto show so I'm gonna check this overpriced POS out and grill the Honda people. Mebbe hit on some info booth girls... lol.

I just noticed... Honda is selling nearly nothing but Accords in terms of midsize sedans. CL/TL, TSX, Accord, are all "Accords" either here or overseas.

Everybody on this forum likes to talk about the H22a and then pretend to know everything about honda motors.
The H22A, although a good motor for it's time, is using old, outdated technology. If you take a break down of the H or B series motor vs the new K-series motor, it's not even funny how advanced the K-series motor is. Additionally why would you want a such a heavy motor in the TSX..a quick, nimble light car.

If they're comparing it to the 3series... let's compare it to 3series competitors...
IS300? G35? A4? S60? 9-3? C-class? Well, the TSX might be a match for the POS C-class but that's about it.

All the other competitors kick the TSX's @$$ even if the TSX is cheaper than some... value-wise.

The TSX is in a class of it's own. IS300, nice car. G35- not even in the same category. 9-3/C-class- not even the same category.

You're taking every small car you can think of and throwing them all togethor. Do you think the buyer of a C-Class is looking for a sporty fun to drive small sedan? NO they're looking for the starmark on the hood and the look that people will give them.

I know that this is very difficult for people like you to understand, but probably 90% of the cars on the road are never pushed any harder than 7/10. Face it, you're not the target market for the TSX. Honda/Acura doesn't give a flying fvck if you like the car or not, it's not aimed at you. The target market for the TSX isn't going to be complaining about understeer for the simple reason that they won't be pushing the car hard enough to experience any significant understeer.

I'd have to disagree. 92-96 the prelude was a step ahead of it's game. 97+ it was just another "sporty car" nothing very special..sold quite poorly.
The TSX is employing basically honda's latest technology and design here, the interior is great, I really like it. The prelude platform is long gone.
