About... Shotguns!

Shotguns in games have too limited a range, completely unrealistic. The spread pattern at ten feet in games is larger than what a real shotgun's would be at 50 feet.

Loved the shotgun in Doom 3. It was easily my most effective weapon and I played through most of the game with it. Strafe in close, fire off 2 rounds, that would pretty much drop most enemies.

I have started to play Doom 3 again and this exactly what I'm doing now...only exception being against the Pinky (I use the MG for it). 🙂

In COD4 it is possible to ping someone in the head with the .45 pistol at significant range with great accuracy - I've hit people like this while they were in the process of unloading a whole AK mag at me - so you can actually have the .45 as your ranged weapon and use it while you close to shotgun range. All maps have some buildings where the shotgun is king, and even on open areas like the bog, you can sneak up behind the enemy lines and take three or four down before the rest of them even know you're there. Use the fast reload perk and the auto shotgun. Fast reload will also help you use your pistol as a spray-and-pray while retreating if you absolutlely have to.

Now that you mention dual barrel... is there any dual barrel pump action shotgun in any game or in RL... or even automatic lol!!!???????

The pumping action of a shotgun is used to eject the spent shell and load a new one from the magazine. However, most double-barrel shotguns hold exactly one shell per barrel and have no magazine, so there's no reason to have a pump action. To eject the spent shell and load a new one, you just break the thing open, drop out the spent shells, and insert two new ones. In order to get a double-barrel pump action shotgun, you'd have to figure out a way to have the two barrels fed from either a single magazine (no easy task) or to have two separate magazines with a single pump action that operates both of them. Or I guess you could have two separate pumps as well, but then you're basically talking about two pump shotguns duct-taped together.

One cool thing though is it's possible to have a FOUR-barrel shotgun! Not really any different from a double-barrel version, just twice as many barrels.

I was thinking on two pump shotguns attach to each other... but one handle moves both pumps lol! like mod

Someone did this. I saw a video of it somewhere. Welded two pump shotguns together at the barrel and made a custom pump attachment to control both.

What do you hate about shotguns the most?

1. Some dont have stocks...
2. Bad crap at long range...
3. Slow Firing Rate...
4. Lack of custom items like the M4...
5. Real Bitch to reload...

Soldier of Fortune 2 had pretty good shotguns. They worked well for close quarters MP action.

The shotgun in SoF 2 was awesome. At close range it sent the body parts flying! I also like the shotgun in Doom 3, very effective.
