Aborted babies incinerated to heat UK hospitals

If the aborted child is just a clump of unwanted cells, why not make dog or cat food out of them? Just think of how many chickens we could save from being made into dog and cat food if we started using aborted children.

You do know that slavery and forced sterilization was also upheld by the supreme court,,, right?

Just because something is legal/illegal does not make it right or wrong.

Just as murdering millions of jews, gypsies and other unwanted people by the nazis was wrong, so is abortion.

You justify your bigotry behind the shield of legality.

And something isn't right or wrong just because you say so. I don't know who you think made you the arbiter of morality. You don't even bother falling back on some religious text, you just go on and on about something being wrong Just Because. If you can't find any kind of cause and effect rationale starting with basic axioms that most of us can agree with you have nothing. And you're not even trying to do that.

Well, naturally....a furnace used to burn remains would heat the space it was in. I wouldn't be opposed to snuggling up near a cremation furnace with a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa...but that's just me.

However, I think the headline of this story is bullshit and they are just fucking with pro-lifers to get them riled up. Like, do you really fucking think they stockpile miscarried babies and fetuses until they have enough to heat the place?

They would need a few thousand to even make a difference. Most of our body is composed of water, you'd probably waste more energy just burning them....so you pro-life nutters really think you can heat a building with a stack of dead kids and fetuses?

The callousness with which some treat a child is amazing to me. Have we sunk so low morally that our instinct to protect a child is gone? Replaced instead with a discussion over the convenience and efficacy over heating using the remains of a child?

those aren't children, though.

Yep and the headline of the OP is very misleading. Makes it sound like fully formed babies are being thrown in a trash pile for burning. That is not the case. Most of it looks like placenta and tissue and blood. It isn't recognizable as babies.

NO NO NO! How dare you guys try to desensationalize this egregious sensationalism!

The only things I can think of to protect dead babies/foetuses against are a) necrophiliacs and b) pranksters of some description.

The best protection against those two threats is probably to cremate the bodies...

If anything, I think we should move from babies to all people. Government sponsored incinerators in every city! Why do people feel it is somehow a good thing to bury a body? I could understand the "put them back into the soil" mentality, if they weren't encased in a copper box for 100,000 years...

A friend of mine's stepdad specified that he be buried in a pine box and have a tree planted on top so that his decaying body could provide nutrients. The cemetery bitched but nothing in state regulations could stop his expressed wishes.

That was 15 years ago; the tree is going strong.

I advocate they be treated the way normal dead humans are treated.

...you guys are seriously going to defend this practice?

Don't bother, anyone defending this needs their heads examined.... Which is about half of the males who post in this political forum. No one would act this way except over the internet while being anonymous.

i guess im the only person who has no issues with this. better idea then taking of land fill space

nope, biological medical waste is going to be cremated and you might as well put the excess heat to use. Going green up in here.

Funny how we have no issues slaughtering and using all other animals (hint: humans are animals) for our own purposes with emotional intelligence levels above that of a fetus or newborn, but the thought of cremating or maybe even gaining energy from a fetus is oh so horrible!

As always, fetus =/= child.

1st brain activity occurs at 8 weeks. Pior to this point, the mass of cells being terminated is completely INCAPABLE of suffering or pain.

I am more interested in when some form of recognizable consciousness develops vs. when the brain or heart develops (clearly, brain development is tied with consciousness, though you can have basic brain activity without consciousness). A fetus stays a fetus until it has some form of consciousness that resembles that of what many others incorrectly assume it is, a human child.

So what?

Would cannibalizing human beings be good if everyone's relative nutrition increased?

Sure. Why not use ourselves like we do all other animals? We are not special. We are quite wasteful with our dead, and I consider that disrespectful.

They are TOO DEAD TO CARE.

Interesting how religious people claim to be focused on the afterlife and not so much on this physical life, yet they are strangely fascinated with "respecting" dead, physical bodies...*shrug*

Your argument is so very full of substance, it's obvious that you must be right! </sarcasm>

Do you have any actual valid points to put forward that are relevant to the topic? Do you think that flinging insults is going to convince anyone that you're right?
