Thanks.

68-71 is a bit warm for my tastes. I try to keep load temps < 60c for 24/7 use, especially since I Fold@Home. AS5 should certainly help if your work uses some generic paste. Make sure you're getting good airflow through your case as well. Those rear-firing HSFs only bring in system temp air, which can be warm if you don't have adequate intake & outtake air flow. You could always try reseating it; those push pins are no fun to install and if one is partially out, it won't cool adequately.

Unfortunately you'll have to get RAM that can handle DDR2-1000, be it made for it or overclocked. The IP35 series boards don't have any CPU : DRAM ratios < 1:1.

I havent added anything new recently - nor did the problem started to happen once I even added the devices.

I have a MyBook but I turn that off - so it doesnt boot at startup -- I have a media card reader too - its hard to diagnose when it happens since its random.

But it happens like the lights dim and Windows Screen freezes

WEW - How often does this happen? Did it used to load properly every time? Did you do anything at all (add a USB peripheral, PCI card, software, etc) in between when it worked & now?

We'll need some more detail. See the rest of the questions.

Well thanks all you guys who came to my help. I think now i am getting a hang of this slow but surely i am lowering my multiplier from 9 to 7 x 360mhz. I ran Prime 95 for about an hour and the temp kept around 51 which is well low than what i used to get couple of hours ago than again the temp Cooled down a bit here in NYC maybe that might have helped me. But it ran fine for an hour without any problem than i stopped it. Can some tell me how can i take a snapshot of my desktop screen. So i can post it here to show everyone who helped me

Thanks again

If you can tolerate the double-booting, v.12final. If not, IMO, v.13beta01. I'm not a fan of v.14 & v.15 due to a couple bugs, though if you're running an E8400 I think you have to use v.14. Not positive about that though.

Hi guys it looks like i have run into a problem right now my E2160, and ADATA 2X2gb DDR2 800 is running at 380x8 multi and at a stock voltage for CPU and 1.95 for Ram however when i try to put my memory timings to 5-5-5-18-23 which and the rest of the options to AUTO my PC doesnt Boot up i also tried to put memory Voltage to 2 and still nothing. Can someone tell me where am i going wrong.

CAS Latency time(tcl)-----5
Ras# to Cas# Delay (trcd)--5
Ras# precharge (trp)---------5
Precharge delay(tras)---------18
refresh cycle time(trfc)--------23
write recovery time(twr)------auto
write to read delay(twtr)-----auto
act to act time(trrd)----------auto
read to precharge(trtp)------auto
command rate-----------------auto.

Hey guys,

I just built the system below in my sig last week. I'll probably give it another few days to burn in before I try to start to OC, but wanted to get a head start reading some info. I'm using the $5/stick HP RAM which I think is rated at 667MHz, but I've seen some people say that it will go to 800Mhz no problem. Can you tell me what sort of things I might want to keep in mind when going thru the OC guides here and using that RAM?

No specific guides, but if you click on "CPUs and Overclocking" to your left, you'll find a great C2D guide there.

No real tips, just stick your CPU : DRAM ratio to 1:1 until you find your CPU's limit, then work on OC'ing the RAM.

It worked fine, now does anyone tell me what do if i wana set up 4-4-4-12 setup other than changing the values above. I mean will the command rate remain 2T or i have to change it to 1T. And how about the voltage right now it is at 1.95

Thanks everyone in advance.

Can you supply a link to your RAM? The only DDR2-800, 2x2G A-Data kit on Newegg I could find is specified at 5-5-5-18. Most likely you won't be able to tighten the timings. If you do, definitely don't select 1T. Most DDR2 doesn't run at 1T; even if it did, there isn't that great of a performance increase AFAIK.

Yes that's the RAM i have i will see how far i can go. Thanks for your advice about T2.

SR - what do you know about this board with an e8400 OC>?

SR was unfortunately banned from AT.

The E8400 will behave pretty well with this board. It may read temps a little whacky but CoreTemp is the best thing people have going at the moment anyway. Here are some results with two -E's for you to have a gander at.

coretemp huh... thanks for the tip! I just setup my new rig (below) last night and only did the simple bump to 400fsb since I can't read the temps at all. I'll see if coretemp and see if it can get past the poor, confused BIOS. With only a CM Hyper TX 2 to cool my cpu I don't see my ocing going really high (it was FAR though) but I am going to try and get to 3.8-4 range...

jeez my abit ip35-e is outof wack. I cannot get it to post. I put in an e8400, but i ddont have any other chip to try in it, like a cheapo celeron.

it turns on then fans spin for 5-8 seconds, no post beep, then restarts, fans spin 5-8 seconds, no beep restart, repeat, repeat forever. If i try to boot with just 20 pins or a 4pin power instead of the 8, it turns on, but never post beeps, just keeps running, fans are spinning, and i can feel the cpu heating up. WTF is going on. Does anyone know why this is happening. I cant see a post screen or boot or anything, so i dunno whats happening, ive tried it in the case, out the case, no heatsink, no ram, 1 stick of ram, power in/out of 8800gt at boot, clear cmos/remove battery for 2 mins. GYAH i cannot get this thing to power up. i know all my other components besides the brand new e8400 work, because i had all them running on my old 965p-DS3 r3.3. What do you fellas recommend i try before i RMA this piece of dog shit. I almost picked up something heavy and smashed it inot my case on the floor because i had spent 2 hours perfecting the ultra 120 installation and everything, had all the cables/wires hidden fans all plugged in. turned it on and nothing, continuous reboot. I kicked a hole through the side of the fucking case

im so f'n mad. i bet the beta bios for the 965p is already out, and i sold mine to by this DOA piece of junk. Any pointers anybody?

I'm not sure, but is this scenario the "double boot" i keep hearing about. btw my ambients were 70F
