McCain's "war hero" status was undeserved and tossed around like a cheap decoration.

Just when I think jpeyton cant get any lower, he throws out something like this.

Why would you think that? This is the same partisan hack that in one breath states US troops are indiscriminately killing civilians because they want to and can do it without prejudice and follows it in the next one deploring that the troops haven't been pulled out so they will safely be home.

The very point being made is the unfounded hypothesis that jpeyton, Wesley Clark, or anyone else on this thread is swift boating McCain by questioning his hero status or military judgment.

Only a few very partisan supporters of McCain seem to be the only posters making the case that questioning McCain hero status or judgment becomes a sacrilege against some sort of a totally sacred cow.

And its even harder to make the case that Wes Clark is anti military when he spent the bulk of his life in a military career where he achieved the status of high command rank.

But for the record, what may be missing on this thread is any comments of the overall military record of Wes Clark. Who, IMHO, has some real downside brainfarts to go along with some very positive accomplishments. And maybe the message to take away from this thread is that neither McCain or Clark are perfect human beings and its the duty of the American people to judge only McCain and Obama at the ballot box. Everyone else may feel free to piss on me, jpeyton, Clark, or virtually any other poster on this forum, but when it comes to the ballot box, you can't punish us because we are not running for President.

You might have a point there except that I'm a huge supporter of Obama, and if you look at my posts over the past several months you will see that, with the exception of when people attack McCains status as a POW. FYI McCain was also a Captain in the Navy, which is considered a 'command rank' though he was never assigned a vessel.

Wes Clark is a staff weenie extraordinaire...adept at staff politics as they come. I'd not follow him in the chow line, let alone on any military decision if I didn't HAVE to.

McCain isn't much better, though he's at least stomachable as a soldier. He had great patriotism, as well as outstanding intestinal fortitude and honor. Hero? Maybe...but so is anyone (including all war veterans that saw action, as well as firemen and cops) in my book, who put themselves in harms way for what they believe in.

In short, he (McCain) should spend less time talking about his war service and more time telling us how we're gonna unscrew the mess that we're in. Clark should shut up and do the same.

McCain and Clark are both heros imho. However that does not mean McCain would make a good president or has good foreign policy ideas. The two have nothing to do with each other. Respect the man's service, but don't like or agree with his ideas.

Simple.
