<< 1) The Arab states encouraged them to leave so that they could destroy Israel. >>

To my knowledge, there were observers from BBC present, and they never heard arab ecourage the palestinians to leave. There were, however, several cases where jews forced the palestinians to leave their homes.

The following is a quote from the 1973 memoris of Haled al-Azem, the prime minister of Syria in 1948:

"Since 1948 we have been demanding the return of the refugees to their homes. But we ourselves are the ones who encouraged them to leave. Only a few months separated between our call to them to leave and our appeal to the United Nations to resolve on their return. Is this a wise and stable policy? Is there harmony in such a programme? We have brought destruction upon a million Arab refugees, by calling upon them and pleading with them to leave their lands, their homes, their work and their business, and we have caused them to be barren and unemployed though each one of them had been working and qualified in a trade from which he could make a living. In addition, we accustomed them to begging for hand-outs and to suffice with what little the UN organisation would allocate them."

I asked that question in this thread first before I started the other thread. But I undertstand how difficult it is for you to tell time.

But why did you ask me to explain the untruths in the aritcle if you are not going to respond? Is the history over your head?

Should I doubt your answer? Did you need me to thank you for answering my question? Sounds like your low self esteem is getting the best of you Bubba!

<< I just think that people need to focus more on the history of the past 100 years, instead of treating this conflict as if were in a vacuum. But what happened thousands of years ago is irrelevant, though. >>

So, is the history before Basle of 1897 and Herzl's "At Basle I Founded the Jewish State" irrelevant? Therefore, does it mean that the history is written by the Zionists?

History is not written by Zionists; it's written by historians.

EDIT: But if you can find me one shred of evidence that a group of people called the Palestinians were living west of the Jordan River when the first settlers arrived in 1880, I would love to see it. And the greatest misnomer is that there were no Jews living in the "Holy Land" when the first settlers arrived. On the contrary, there has always been a Jewish population in that area since Judea was destroyed in 70 AD (if only a few thousand).

Do not mistake Ashkenazim for Sephardim, nothing in common. besides the religion.

And where did the talk of the Palestinians come from? I did not mention anything.

Why should I separate the Jews who came from Spain, North Africa, Babylon, etc. with those Jews who came from eastern Europe? My point was simply that there has always been Jews (regardless of their sect) living west of the Jordan River for the past 2000 years. That's all.
