I would love if Sharon were to be replaced by a moderate from the Labor Party. And I would be delighted if Israel started abandoning settlements. BUT I'm not going to allow people to distort history to make Israel look bad. And if that bothers you for some reason, so be it.

1) The Arab states encouraged them to leave so that they could destroy Israel.
2) Israel has a Arab population of well over a million.
3) Arafat put an end to the process before Sharon took office.
>>

1. And in your mind the Israelis had nothing to do with them leaving?
2. But why wont Israel accept the Palestinian refugees?
3. That was because Netanyahu's proposal wasnt much better than Sharon's.

1) The 1947 partition of the 23-percent of Palestine that was supposed to be a Jewish state (which, by the way, was only an UN reccomendation, not a resolution) was accepted by the Jews but rejected by the Arabs.
2) Have you seen the size of Israel? And why should Israel be forced to have an Arab majority?
3) Why are you bringing up Benjamin Netanyahu?

1. Has nothing to do with Israel having something to do with them leaving. Again I ask, in your mind did the Israelis have nothing to do with them leaving?
2. It shouldnt be forced but if any country is going to take the refugees then Israel should because thats where the originated from. Countries around Israel already have Palestininian refugee camps. Why shouldnt Israel accept the refugees?
3. Because thats another head of Israel that offered an unacceptable deal for the Palestinians.

Yes Czar they have but if you focus on the Past you will get NOTHING accomplished.

The Actions of the present and the willingness hown for peace now in the present is ALL that counts.

Of course Israel has done bad things. But when you present an untruth as a matter of fact, I'm not going to allow it.

1) Czar, everything west of the Jordan River was supposed to be a Jewish state. But the Jews agreed to the recommendation from the UN to partition the land.
2) Didn't I just say that 20-percent of the Israeli population is Arab? And the refugee towns (there not really camps as people like to say) need to be rebuilt and revitalized.
3)When have I defended him? But it's quite interesting that when he was PM there were hardly any terrorist attacks. During one year there were none, in fact. EDIT: or at least no one died that year from an attack

I always thought focusing on the Past (i.e. the Promissed Land, The Old Testament, etc.) became the reason why the Jewish state was created in the first place, eh? ;)

I wish I didn't have to say this, but I diagree with you. I think the problem is that we focus too much on the present, ignoring the historical facts (and by "historical" I mean the past 120 years or so) that has led us to where we are now.

I just think when we do that neither side can argue they have the only rights to that land.

Israel proved with 2 weeks of no response or retailiation that they were truely interested in peace.

The Palestinian response of daily sucide bombing attacks showed their unwillingness for peace.

As long as both sides can't reconcile their vastly different interpretations of history, you can forget about peace.

LOL I know you guys love it but that same thing can be said of Palestinian's claim on the same land. Thats why the historical claims never can be resolved.

I'm not saying that they have to agree on everything, but they have to come some mutual understanding on some level. If not, the hate will persist.

Oh I see if you are talking about Israel's right to exist, ABSOLUTELY.

I can't agree with that more.

I just think that people need to focus more on the history of the past 100 years, instead of treating this conflict as if were in a vacuum. But what happened thousands of years ago is irrelevant, though.

BTW, does anyone find my AT user name ironic? :Q

To my knowledge, there were observers from BBC present, and they never heard arab ecourage the palestinians to leave. There were, however, several cases where jews forced the palestinians to leave their homes.
