And...I have to live in dorms all four years.

Fvckin hell, man, you can't be so far away that there aren't plenty of drugs and alcohol. STFU and partake. ;)

why don't you join some clubs or something... that'd give you a wider variety of things to do, and a wider variety of people to do things with, and then maybe you wouldn't feel quite as isolated. if they don't have clubs you're interested in, start one. :)

QFT.

I was just talking to friends about how one of your "biggest" concerns in college was walking to class and it was cold and icy.

Walking to class. Cold and icy.

I've been working and had my own place for 3 months now. I'm starting to realize what a "concern" actually is.

Those are honestly not a problem. I don't want to be living at home still, I just hate being locked in this campus.

It's your fault for picking that school.

Thats why I chose to attend school in Boston - right in the middle of life off campus.

I'm not doing any banging, and don't intend to.

I certainly did not want to go to Penn State main which is five hours from my house or any school for that matter with tens of thousands of students.

Don't suggest getting an apartment, I can't.

Don't suggest bringing my car up here, I can't.

I can get an on-campus job to make around $60/week at most. That's certainly nothing like a real job, though.

I'm not minding the school work and I'm meeting a lot of great people. It just really seems like I'm in a secluded world and my own apartment, car, and off-campus job seems like a dream.

There is nothing wrong with goiung to a schoolk with thousands of people....

Thank you for projecting your opinion and making it fact. And I said tens of thousands...

Thank you for that revelation!

The people here (like yourself) who act like this is due to not thoroughly thinking through my school choice enough just want to criticize. Have you ever considered that perhaps some things you just can't know without acutally attending the school? I've lived in a small town my whole life and thought I'd have no problem doing so now. I also thought I'd have no problem not having my car and not being around my girlfriend for weeks or months at a time. Now, after having been here, I still don't desire to live in huge city, or to party and get drunk every night. I just wish I could go somewhere outside of walking distance and I miss a good job with a good income. It seems I don't like the strict full time college life, where college is all I do, and I never leave campus and don't work off campus. Perhaps I would've preferred getting a full time job and my own place and doing school part time. But that would have a great deal of downfalls as well.

i lived in the dorms, graduated, and naturally, moved off campus. at first, i was in a studio all alone (i had a close friend in the building, but he was never really around so i found that rough), but then i moved in with roommates and life was great :) i met my husband in the same building and then we got married! yay.

Grove City College.

It is a Christian school. The only rule they really have that is abnormal is the dorms are not co-ed and the opposite sex is only allowed in the building on certain days during certain hours. Besides that, it's a pretty normal private school. Great cost, an hour from home, about 2300 students. More than anything I like the type of people that go here. And other colleges, just as PSU Erie, also have the freshman car restriction, so that's nothing specific to here.

I just can't figure out yet if these are things that will become not a big deal, or if I really do need to be at a different school. Even though I have to be in dorms all four years here, perhaps once I have a car next year that will greatly improve things to the point of not minding living on campus.

I hear nothing but great things about Behrend (PSU Erie). They are supposed to be every bit as good, if not better than PSU Main.

Yes, I have a lot of friends going there. But the fact of the matter is, it's twice the distance from my home, and the same cost as my school, and I preferred the environment and overall great reputation of this school. So I chose where I'm at. I don't know if I'd prefer another school or not.

I think a lot of us feel a little cooped up at times.

For example, I probably won't be leaving Madison until Thanksgiving, and I've been here since late August. It's nice to go on a road trip from time to time, but not many people have a car.

The people I personally know who graduated from Grove City had nothing but good things to say about it. It also has a good reputation. Every college has good and bad features, so I wouldn't worry that you're not at the right school.

If getting a good education is important to you, you made a good choice.

Well that's a plus, because it certainly is.

College is supposed to be everything good about the real world quadrupled with none of the bad. If this isn't the case you are doing something wrong.

I just prefer the more adult lifestyle. I was more of an adult (not maturity, but my lifestyle) before I came to college.
