In Christian religion it's believed that if you're' good and without sin you go to heaven. If you're bad and lived a sinful life you go to hell.

That's all fine and dandy, but life isn't black and white.

For instance,

1. What happens if you have a mental disorder and you go on a murderous rampage?

2. What happens if you're attacked and you kill someone in self-defense?

3. What happens if a US drone attacks a terrorist site, but kills innocent women and children instead? Are Americans going to hell?

I don't know if I believe in God. I have my doubts like I do about a lot of things.

Then again, if I was on a burning plane I'd probably start praying.

Jesus arrived on the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria while looking for freedom and avoiding being drowned in the flood. He saw America was awesome. So he made it his chosen land. All Americans go to heaven. Other peoples try to come to America so as to avoid Hell.

That's about all you need to know.

Except for America means America. Not just north america. Canadians, and like, Peruvians and shit go to hell.

1. If your disorder renders you non-competent, you go to heaven, if not, then hell.

2. No sin, no hell for you.

3. The drone goes to hell. This is a primary advantage of drone warfare.

Seems about as valid as Scientology.

  • Scientology is bullshit! Man, I was there the night L. Ron Hubbard invented it, for Christ's sakes! ... We were sitting around one night... who else was there? Alfred Bester, and Cyril Kornbluth, and Lester del Rey, and Ron Hubbard, who was making a penny a word, and had been for years. And he said "This bullshit's got to stop!" He says, "I gotta get money." He says, "I want to get rich". And somebody said, "why don't you invent a new religion? They're always big." We were clowning! You know, "Become Elmer Gantry! You'll make a fortune!" He says, "I'm going to do it."

Even a very basic thing like a white lie is a sin, and leads to hell. There is no way we can do anything to make up for sin and by default all go to hell BUT Jesus died on the cross and took our place, then rose again, so all we have to do is believe in him and accept him in our heart. Basically when he died, he held all of the sins of the world. Typically you want to live a good life and show a good example, but if you go on a murderous rampage, but accepted the gift, you go to heaven and are forgiven. Even one of the thieves on the cross with Jesus got saved while being on the cross, because he believed. He asked Jesus to remember him when he goes back to see his father in heaven. Jesus told him that he will be with him in paradise. Basically you want to accept you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness and for Jesus to come in your life.

On the other hand, you can be the nicest atheist person in the world but you've still sinned at some point, and fall short if you refuse to believe.

This explains it more: http://www.creationtips.com/saved.html (just a random blurb I found on Google)

If you were on a burning plane and had a choice of grabbing a fire extinguisher or praying and you were only allowed to do one or the other, which one would you do?

And which one do you think the people who claim to believe in god would do?

That's easy. I'd grab the fire extinguisher. :D

The people who believe in god would do the same.

I like Steve Jobs quote on death (just part of the quote):

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it, and that is how it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It's life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.

You can be Hitler and exterminate an entire race but as long as you are truly sorry, believe in God, and repent right before you die, you'll go to heaven. Makes total sense.
