Tired of this word police bullshit. You think by legislating someone's speech you're stopping their racism. You can't. Thug is perfectly valid word for these scum bags. White, brown, black or red. You act like there aren't apologists going around looking for opportunities to brand words and people as "racist." They are the ones seeing race in situations where other people see behavior. Because some particular instances of savage behavior or thuggish behavior were perpetrated by people of a particular minority race, that's the only thing these "racism" accusers see. If you start to think describing behaviors gets conflated with race, then check yourself.

That mentality is why there's currently no universally unoffensive/correct way to refer to the race of a black person in the United States...and it's silly.

I'm starting to feel confused about the actual fisticuffs in videos like these. People getting laid out so thoroughly after the rather lengthy telegraphing and threatening postures that seems to be popular these days.

Still, in the end, even though the pathetic actor there is guilty of picking the wrong role on the wrong stage at the wrong time, from what was on that video let's keep in mind the violence emanated from only one party there; the real assholes of the clip. Kicking someone in the head when they are down is nothing to sneeze at folks.

Foolishness shouldn't be answered with an asskicking. You break out Reason and Persuasion *holds up fists*, you better have a good reason. If I was black I'd like to think I'd take pains not to re enforce racial stereotypes during a time when it only serves to justify the position of the crooked cops we see in the news. All the above is true.
Words also evolve quite rapidly in some languages depending on how people use them.

It is also true that certain people who, some believe would have a prejudiced view of black men, seem to use thug to describe black criminals with a relish that is absent from their comparatively rare use of the same word to describe white criminals.

For example it would be interesting to start to test the hypothesis by counting how many times that word was used too refer to the white motorcycle gang members who got into a gun battle in Texas compared to the recent uses of the word to describe anyone from protestors to vandals to people who shoot cops who aren't white.
