GOTCHA!!!!

Can you people that come here time and time again that try to use microcenter as the basis of your argument towards amd having a better price/performance deal vs intel just stop.

Here is all 23 microcenters in the usa....now how many people can actually get those prices?

I've got one 10 minutes from my work... 🙂

Was awesome when I went in there casually browsing for my new build when the i5 sale was on.

I am 20 minutes from the border to Ohio and a MC is approx 2 hours away. I will be going there to get my Ivybridge and maybe Z77 combo 🙂

so you would drive 4 hours to save 20 bucks and spend 50 in gas?

Maybe he has a tesla roadster. Then he might save 20 bucks to spend 20 bucks in electricity to recharge his car.

I'll be in Houston in a couple of months, right about the time IVB comes out. Hmmmmm

I would, it would be more for the experience of doing that. Ive never bought a computer part from a real store taht actually sells computer parts.

I know the feeling,I live about 30 min from where the first newegg store ever opened,I can remember back in highschool when we would go there to buy computer parts(wayyyy back in 98-99)and they had this killer cdr deal for 1 dollar/cdr.Back then cdrs were like 4 bucks each and the pos 1x writers would fail half the time burning disks.

I was soooo upset that they decided to close the store down to go only on the web.

This was right when website first started going online and I remember it like it was yesterday when I went in there to buy a 56k modem and the price was rung up wrong and I got it for 4 bucks. They were over 140 bucks back then lol.

I live within 30 minutes of two MC's. I don't think there's anything wrong with using MC when we talk about good deals, if it's available to us, then it just is. I don't get the bashing over it, but whatever.

I still wouldn't buy Bulldozer though 🙂

Anyway, how is this related to CPUs and Overclocking?

Personally I have no problem with people pointing out reality.

If reality is that getting a microcenter combo deal is the best deal for those within easy driving distance to a microcenter then so be it.

If reality is that getting to a microcenter is not convenient or economically viable when factoring in time and travel expense then so be it.

Provided the reality of the deals are being clearly spelled out, what's the issue?

We are an internationally accessible forum, but how long did our Canadian members have to suffer at the tantillizing discussions of newegg pricing as the basis for price/performance comparisons and discussions? Or the folks in Greece? Or India?

If we start down this path of excluding price/performance comparisons on the basis of local and ease of access to the retailer/etailer in question then I assure you it will not be a path that ends well.

Its not the same IDC,the micro deals are only walk ins and the newegg prices are the same and most of the time offer free shipping to the whole usa.

Like in most of the threads where price vs performance comes in is that micro deal with the BD 8 core and mother board for free for 189.

That is only walk in and there are only 23 places in the usa that can get that deal, you cant compare that pirce combo and say the amd setup is better than intel because its not something most people can buy.If you want that same cpu and order it on microcenter.com its 240 for just the cpu plus shipping.

Now its 100% fine to say that you can get a good deal like that but thread after thread that combo deal comes up vs price/performance to an intel setup.

Its tantamount to being the same if you are a member of this forum but do not live in the USA.

You take exception to MC because of its limited accessibility, by that token you should take exception to any etailer/reseller who is not global/international because I assure you there are members of this forum who could not care less about discussions on Newegg pricing or Microcenter pricing because both are equally irrelevant to them.

That's all I was trying to say.

Now its 100% fine to say that you can get a good deal like that but thread after thread that combo deal comes up vs price/performance to an intel setup.

And? Who gets fooled by it? You? Them? The unwashed masses of ignorant lurking newbs who stand to be misled if some savior does not come rushing to their aid by correcting all the wrongs in this world, thread after thread?

You are setting yourself on a fool's errand, I wish better for you, I want to see you in a happier place. Getting pedantic about microcenter deals is not going to get you to a happy place. Get to bed, there lies a happier place 🙂

I go to MC all the time...even when I lived 400 miles away I'd just go when I had vacation time and I was visiting NYC.

I actually could go to a microcenter

So you are an admitted troll.

There are millions of poor people around the world who live without electricity.

Should we cease all discussions about devices that require electricity because some people don't have access to it?

No. Some day those people will wise up and move to place with electricity, just like the people who live in the boonies will wise up and move closer to a Microcenter.

I think most price/performance discussions are flawed to begin with.

Person A: FX-8120 is a great CPU because it is priced at only $189!

Person B: The FX-8120 is priced at $189 because its performance is not good enough to be priced higher (even though AMD hoped it would).

AMD has been selling more cores for cheap for how many years now? Is it because AMD wants to make all the budget PC builders happy at they expense of their revenue? Or is it because they have no choice based on performance?

I remember on these forums leading up to the release of BD (and shortly after).

Intel Fan: FX-8120 cant beat Gulftown or SB-E.
AMD Fan: Thats because it competes agaisnt the 2600K.

Intel Fan: The FX-8120 just lost to the 2600K.
AMD Fan: Thats because is competes agaisnt the 2500K

Intel Fan: The 2500K is still better for most situations.
AMD Fan: Thats because the FX-8120 is a specialty CPU.

And it goes on and on and on...

How about we all agree that most CPUs are priced where they should be based on competition performance?

You know, these forum threads don't just randomly disappear. Can you actually link to any of those threads, or are you just making this up (trolling)?

I really do not have the desire or energy to sort though all those threads. Are you denying any of that?
