In Ontario, which is in Canada. Single payer universal health care that works hand in hand with the education system to ensure the immunization-related health of all.

Canada, where the government can do complex things like provide healthcare for all, but evidently is unable to do relatively trivial things like have two government agencies share a trivial amount of structured data. Better instead make parents sneakernet a piece of paper from one government building to another.

I'm sorry, are you being critical of a system that enforces vaccinations because it is somewhat inconvenient for those that didn't submit vaccination records correctly, as expected, the first time?

No, I fully support mandatory vaccinations. I'm making fun of a system that can both provide the vaccinations as a government service, but also can't notify a different government service that they provided them.

My parents and my doctor were the only ones that knew my vaccination records when I was a kid. I had a little vaccination card. How would Health Canada know unless every time there was a vaccination they mailed a letter to the government? Only within the last 10 years has there been a real push to put things in digital form, and even then Health Canada's records (assuming they actually get the records - not sure what the confidentiality limit is on that) would be quite incomplete, at best.

How would they know if you don't tell them?

I'm not sure how it was in the past, but now all I need to do when the school needs vaccination records is call the clinic and have them fax them over. Is it much more difficult up there?

Doubtful that it is more difficult. But if you don't do it, it doesn't get done. That was my point. If you don't tell them you got the vaccine, how would they know you got the vaccine? The only reasonable thing to do is notify the students that they don't have records on file & suspend as appropriate.

Good. Dumbass parents can homeschool their pathogen children.

Nice to know where yall stand on individual rights.

It is a persons right to say what happens to their body. Your health is not someone elses responsibility.

Example: You wash your hands before eating, right? Why? Shouldn't you require mandatory hand washing?

So last year when everyone freaked out about Ebola we should've just let the infected people walk around in public rather than quarantine them because it's an individual health choice?

Not only should vaccinations be mandatory, every single kind of vaccine imaginable should be mandatory. And there should be this big frickin racket where every company under the sun is making $500 vaccines to be shoveled onto the taxpayer. YES we should be forced vaccinated until every goddam one of them has a yacht and a private jet and the national debt is $30 trillion. Because we are smart liberals and we know what is best for everyone. It's for the children!

God you people are so sick I wish there was a vaccine for your stupidity. Thank god your kind will never actually be given total control no matter how bad you want it you aint frickin gettin it.

Vaccinations are an evil liberal plot; now this libertarian has heard it all.

dingus, your unvaccinated child can spread their potentially lethal infections to other children who cannot be inoculated. When was the last time you remember a child being stricken with polio? or a widespread smallpox epidemic in a first world nation?

you are just a fucking buffoon.

Your refusal to vaccinate is a detriment to the health of others. That is exactly how vaccines work. Your continued refusal to understand this does not make this any less true. Your choice to punish yourself through exposure to dangerous diseases gives you no right to equally compromise my health or that of my family.

That whole "your rights end where mine begin" argument; on top of "conditions we all accept living in a modern society."

Hmm? I really doubt anyone is going without the polio vaccine. TexasHiker probably had one. I don't really see the problem. The low hanging fruit in the vaccine world is already taken care of.

There's a vaccine that gives people yachts and jets? Where do I get that? I'll take two.

Is there ever a topic that you understand? They have the right not to vaccinate. They have the right to provide home schooling if they choose not to vaccinate. They don't have the right to put others at risk by their choices. It's a very simple premise.

I find it amusing that people can just blurt out statements like this without thinking them through; I can probably think of a handful of everyday examples that show how aspects of one's health is someone else's responsibility, but if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and fill up my glass with some clean, safe-to-drink tap water instead.

Certainly go live in a cabin in the woods if you want to step out of society and cherish your personal rights.
You live in our cities there are rules, you attend public institutions rules
There isn't a big pharma conspiracy here, just common sense

Never said I refuse to be vaccinated except for the flu.

I just believe in individual rights.

People should not be treated differently because of what they do with their bodies.

Their body their choice
