Did anyone else get a year-end bonus?

This is my very first, and I'm pretty excited about it... I hope it's enough to give my car an oil change/40,000 mile tuneup/new battery/new alternator/new airbag/new horn. *crosses fingers*

:)

last year, my store manager got a $30k bonus. Walgreens

2001 / Honda / Civic LX Coupe

Salvage... been in 2 major accidents. :( Currently at 40,000 miles and climbing.

Wow, thats some serious milage. Well, at least when compared to my '93 mazda truck with 87,000 miles.
Congrats on the bonus. I received mine back in Dec for almost $2500.

I've got you two beat ... 9000 miles in 1.5 years on a 2002 Honda Accord SE :)

Eh, I got my Accord about a month after you got yours. Closing in on 27000, I think my warranty will be up by the end of the year.

Let's see.

You can learn how to install your own new battery, new alternator, and do your own oil change. You'll probably save a bundle too. New airbag and horn is probably best serviced by the dealership.

with the advent of 9.99 oil changes by good mechanics/dealerships in my area it's not work the hassle :) Battery often shouldn't have a labor fee also....i missed that...it shouldn't really be both battery and alternator (it's possible)....any autozone type shop can check that for free.

I go the extra mile for her because you asshats like to bash her...my wife sitting here said on a forum with all american guys how come no one answered like I did yet....I just say they are americans yeah, don't know if I'd classify most of them as guys. She also says I am mean to post this...go roll your eyes somewhere else if you think you got a shot at her take it, I am not trying to get get any skirt here.

For the record I also stood up for a couple retards here too that now spend their days hunting my posts. However, I would not talk about 'cyber-crushes' with a website like A SHRINE TO A GUY?!?

I answer legitimate questions I can, Research the ones I can't, I flame the morons, and in this latest 'sympathy' threads I will clarify situations are not always what they seem.

People either say I don't help anyone or only help women here....neither is correct.

I wouldn't trust those damned monkeys and they're impact guns for $10. You realize that most car dealers higher people specifically to do oil changes and they're paid far less then the mechanics that do the real repairs. The last time our Toyota went to the dealer my dad struggled to get the drain bolt out and we had to put a screwdriver through the filter to get it off.

This is why I mentioned good mechanics/dealerships...I have no idea about the drain bolt and why it was so tight, but the filter does occasionally need a tool to remove. An oil change is not rocket science and I have never ever seen an impact used on an oil plug.

Yessir, that is correct. Anything over that, they charge you $40 for. :(

That is BS but I can see it from their point of view, that anything more than 4 calls is not cost effective.

Save up some dough and buy a more reliable car. Dare I say it, a used Nissan Maxima.

M4H will never forgive me now :brokenheart:
Ah, it's wonderful to see the journey of your life Rossman, for with all the trials and tribulations you're obviously making wonderful progress

I got $3000 this year, but I'm more pleased with my 12.5% raise! Damn and I thought I was overpaid before.

EDIT: And yes, some of it was spent on geektoys! In the great tradition of last years 9700 Pro, we have this years Samsung flat screen TV and a nice armoire for it to live in, as well as a Palm Zire 71 for the lil' missus.

EDIT 2.0: Too bad I'm married. I'd love to find out where the sister who sucks and just got a big bonus is...

Seems like its common place in SoCal. I have a friend that took his 4Runner to a Juffu Lube type place once. They asked if he wanted them to change the oil in tranny so he said sure. They overtightened the drain plug on that and cracked the case of the tranny. Instead of a proper fix the owner of the place had a friend weld an aluminum plate over the crack in the housing. Couple this with other stories of other friends who've had their drain plugs stripped by lube places. Although, if a mechanic could change my oil (with the supplies I use) for $30 I'd be amazed:p

for $9.99 your not going to get top of the line supplies....if you are changing a normal vehicle every 3000 miles I dont think it matters. If racing/high temp then a synth or partial synth may be a good choice. A lot of places around here will use your own supplies if you want for the same price.

I have all the tools and an oil charge doesn't take that long, its just a messy job on my car and the 'oil gutter' below the filter only works I think on a engineering sheet :)...

Didn't get a year-end bonus, but then again I did tell my boss he can kiss my ass and that I'm not coming back to work after break.

The funny thing is, I'm still getting paid, and somehow I'm still working there?!?

No matter what I do, they won't ever let me leave...they own me :(

I assume by oil gutter you mean a tray to catch the oil? I guess I'm lucky then. I pull the filter and oil drips straight down, over and around a half-shaft, over and around the downpipe and into the tray:p

it's an actual gutter about 1/4" deep and high....it's supposed to funnel the only down and inboard so it drops straight into a oil pan. However what usually happens is it flips onto the half shafts or capillary action brings it down the back of the block :)....when it's on a lift it's not a big deal...in a garage it equals dirty floor or dirty drop clothes. On a windy day drop clothes + wind can = a flipped oil pan :)

Just got my annual bonus this week too, plus my promotion (11% raise and extra week of vacation). :) Gonna put most of it towards savings, but I have a decent amount set aside for "fun" money. I just can't bring myself to spend it yet, I wanted to pull the trigger on the Dell 2001FP real real bad, but I decided to wait a little longer.
