Heck if I lived closer I'd do it for free....except I would require fresh chocolate chip cookies.

I have a car that was designed to have ease of maintenace....I am a fast wrench and my alternator takes 30mins..maybe 40...but I can't get the car up on jackstands, the wheel off, battery disconnected, the alternator cover off, the two bolts, one ground nut, and a plug off and reversed in 15mins.....if you can do that, how the heck does the battery take you 10? :) I think if you stopwatched this you may be surprised, but I suppose on the right car it's possible.

On alot of cars an alternator is a few hour job...on some spark plugs take a few hours or more. :)

I assume being 1 airbag and 1 horn needs to be done perhaps a short circuit or accident. Used airbags are alot cheaper, just got to make sure you aren't buying from a chop shop if you have morals ;)....if you have car people mod there is usually many people selling airbags because they upgrade to Momo type steering wheels.

Re-read, being that you have a 01 Civic you should be able to find a driver's airbag....being in CA even easier....wear one of your costumes and maybe a 'ricer' guy will just give it to you :)

My job pretty much consists of bonuses.

Every month, if I hit all my targets, I get $850(about $550 after taxes) which Ive done for the last 9 months.
Every month, a mystery shop score of 95+, I get $500 tax free, 88+ = $250 tax free. Below 80 and I'm in the dog house.
And every 3 months, I mysteriously get a bonus check for something I don't know($100-$300).

So for Christmas, I got a $50 GC at some restaurant....figure that.

Salvage... been in 2 major accidents. :( Currently at 40,000 miles and climbing.

Wow, thats some serious milage. Well, at least when compared to my '93 mazda truck with 87,000 miles.
Congrats on the bonus. I received mine back in Dec for almost $2500.

I've got you two beat ... 9000 miles in 1.5 years on a 2002 Honda Accord SE :)

Ahhhh, yet another reason to own an American car. My alternator is 3 bolts, 1 plug and a large belt. It sits right in plain view when I open the hood of my car. My battery sits off to the side and requires 2 bolts (connections to the posts) and 1 bolt for a little brace that holds the battery in place. All of it is in plain view. It's almost like those foreign car makers don't want you to work on your own car so they purposely make it impossible to get to.

Nice car until I read the SALAVE. I will NEVER EVER buy a salvage titled car again.

Yeah, same here. I used to have a 1995 salvage Acura Integra GSR. It broke down big time on me... it was leaking radiator fluid and was really shakey when driving on the freeway.

So, i sold it and bought a non-salvage 1997 Integra - I've been pretty lucky so far...

Taken in perspective, that's a pretty good bonus. :(

Did anyone else get a year-end bonus?

This is my very first, and I'm pretty excited about it... I hope it's enough to give my car an oil change/40,000 mile tuneup/new battery/new alternator/new airbag/new horn. *crosses fingers*

:)

you have about a 1% chance of it covering all those items

Looks like your bonus can get it done providing there aren't more things wrong

Oil change 9.99 and up....a $10-15 oil change should be fine.

Alternator should be $60-120 labor (1-2hours)....it's not a hard job for someone to do
alternator: $264 factory...didn't see any one the local parts websites....you should be able to find one around $100 though

Airbag depending on what else happened may not be the only problem. A airbag should take 30mins tops to replace.
airbag: (is the horn cover too if that is your horn problem) I can't find a factory price.....Ebay has a few, here is 1 at $350 here is more 2001 and 2002 appear the same

horn: the contact is about $6 (not sure if you need it, not sure how long it takes to replace, looks simple here )

According to Honda's website
40,000 mi/64,000 km/2 yrs Scheduled Maintenance
Replace engine oil filter ( part of oil change)
(Everything below should be free)
Check parking brake adjustment
Inspect the tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots
Inspect the suspension components
Inspect the driveshaft boots
Inspect the front and rear brakes
Inspect the brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
Inspect the exhaust system#
Inspect the fuel lines and connections#
#: See information on maintenance and emission warranty on page 138 of your owner's manual.

I am on parts.com now and ebay searching for Bronco stuff for my dad....plus my friends have civic's too....figure it's only a matter of time to get asked alternator and tune up questions.

plus those that answered it would be impossible on almost $900 I was curious how much the parts cost.

I go the extra mile for her because you asshats like to bash her...my wife sitting here said on a forum with all american guys how come no one answered like I did yet....I just say they are americans yeah, don't know if I'd classify most of them as guys. She also says I am mean to post this...go roll your eyes somewhere else if you think you got a shot at her take it, I am not trying to get get any skirt here.

For the record I also stood up for a couple retards here too that now spend their days hunting my posts. However, I would not talk about 'cyber-crushes' with a website like A SHRINE TO A GUY?!?

I answer legitimate questions I can, Research the ones I can't, I flame the morons, and in this latest 'sympathy' threads I will clarify situations are not always what they seem.

People either say I don't help anyone or only help women here....neither is correct.

Yessir, that is correct. Anything over that, they charge you $40 for. :(

That is BS but I can see it from their point of view, that anything more than 4 calls is not cost effective.

Save up some dough and buy a more reliable car. Dare I say it, a used Nissan Maxima.

M4H will never forgive me now :brokenheart:

How much would a used, reliable Nissan Maxima run me? Thx for the tip Ross... it'll be awhile before I can afford a big-ticket item, but I'm working on saving/fiscal responsibility. M4H loves you, and will understand.

I have a feeling that he's cheating on me with Zim Hosein and/or conjur while Fausto videotapes their escapades, I feel so used!

We are all just playing and didn't mean for it to be a serious inquiry to why you are "going the extra mile" to post the part/service costs.... lighten up buddy! If everyone was so serious all the time, ATOT would be a boring place. I've come to realize that we need all these NEFFERS, and Geeks, few girls and tough MODS to make this the place that it is today.
