Oh man I wish my colds only lasted a few days lol. Thankfully I don't get colds often but when I do they last for weeks. The few times I got the flu it lasted a few days, it was the standard "24 hour" flu.

Got C-Diff once... now THAT is not fun, it's like the flu on steroids. So much puking omg.
How is the flu anything like CDI? I don't just mean in intensity - vomiting and diarrhea are only rarely symptoms of the flu. It's really not a GI disease.

It was pretty bad down here in the South last year. I caught it and luckily nothing bad happened but I was really down for like a week. Made sure to get my flu shot early this year so hope it helps.

I think that you're mixing up a bunch of different malaises there!

One of my co-workers died from the flu last march but not before spreading it to half the company including myself.

Had the flu a few times over the years but last years was maybe the sickest I've ever been in my life ... honestly felt like I was near death myself no exaggeration.

My employer's position on inclement weather is better than office health, physical or mental. Half the workplace could be ridden with Ebola, becoming zombies, etc., and they would definitely expect you to get your ass into the office. They see the silver lining as a form of get-out-of-jail-free surplus. Thinning the herd without taking any blame for it. BTW, I got a piece of mail the other day from BCBS stating the flu shot is covered and no cost to me for in-network. But what they fail to say is that your in-network doctor's office can charge you for the office visit $100, while the shot itself is free. The alternative is going to Costco or some pharmacy for the flu shot, but they will not charge an office fee they will damn sure charge you for the shot itself as the non-doctor==out-of-network. Nothing is for free and I've decided I want to pass on the flu bug to as many middle and upper management at my employer as I am allowed to. Here to sneezing, coughing and uncontrollably spitting my best at you. :p

Our flu shot is covered by universal healthcare. You can walk into any pharmacy that offers injection service to get it. Of course you can get it from your family doctor as well and there are also flue shot clinics setup for this.

A lot of people get a little cold and are sick a few days and they think they had "the flu."
In reality, the flu wants to kill you, and it will do everything in it's power to make you suffer until you die.

That is why flu shots are recommended.
I got mine extra early this year, less than a week after my HMO announced them. I HATE BEING SICK.

I will research this, but I am sure thus far that places I've gone into the past couple of years was selling the shot, not giving it away. Giving it away for free would be anit-capitalist, no?

Anit-capitalists are trampled by mobs of frothy-mouthed greed-inspired want-it-alls fleeing to the malls. That's 'Merica.

Hopefully Ford does not privatize health care, that was one of the things he said he wanted to do. Going to move to Quebec if that happens.
