Mine's only a 5900Ultra, but from the space heater like temperautre and the totally enclosed, wrap around heatsink assembly... with seperate intake and exhaust fans... yeah, I'd have to say these things MUST be power pigs!

Chriz, that's really good to hear! Initial reports were that these wouldn't overclock more than a tiny little bit. Since this may very well be the last hurrah for those of us with AGP machines, it's good to see that there may be a little headroom.

I found that the heatsink isn't held very tightly to the GPU, and, that in fact, it took almost no pressure to tilt it one way or the other. I was already wondering about aftermarket cooling. I did note that it looked like they have some silicon goop under the heatsink, but I'd prefer AS. Also, only some of the memory has heatsinks because of the design of the GPU HS/FAN assembly. Again... wondering if aftermarket cooling would allow this to go farther. Of course... if we can't change voltage, we'll only get so far anyway.

Hey Chriz, you wouldn't happen to have before and after benchmarks, or be willing to do some, would ya? :D

Dang, the dual DVI would have been nice to have on the Leadtek. Oh well...

Agreed. I dont like XFX brands at all especially when XFX took their forums down due to you know what. Their warranty is abit dodgy as well.

I ended up getting this too (anyone remember my thread asking about the 6800GS? lol...)

Very happy with it but I don't know where Chriz is getting his temp figures from. Under Nvidia settings it has a temp moniter and I load up ATI tools and click scan for artifact. It maxes out at around 65C, and idles at 46-47C. :)

hmm i thought the 6800Ultra took more?

6800U needs very strong PSU.. 430 Antec True power couldn't pull it (along with 3 hard drives)

Hey guys can you tell my if the memory bus of the 7600gt AGP is 128-bit or 256-bit?If anyone has a XFX version does it tops the leadtek version?

No mention of 256b in XFX's manuals + specified peak memory bandwidth is the same as other 7600GTs. Plus, RivaTuner is telling me it's only 128 bit.

Any other tests?

While I'm at it I may as well ask a few questions cause I'm having some problems

Problem:
Aquamark and 3DMark(01-06) scores seem lower than what they should be, in particular Aquamark and 3DMark01. For example,

Aquamark: 52K (78K+)
3DMark01: 17K (22K+)
3DMark03: 11K (13K+)
3DMark05: 5.4K (6.0K+)
3DMark06: 2.8K (3.2K+)

To put it into perspective I?ve listed the actual scores next to the generally accepted performance (from other forums) of the 7600GT in parentheses. To really put things into perspective, 52K is about what a 6600GT will get.

Solutions(?)
- Updated to 91.47 drivers
- Have also tried using 91.32 (driver CD)
- Checked that AA/AF were not enabled in CP (though I?ll be wanting to check this again)
- Udpated chipset drivers
- Monitored temps using RivaTuner. Well within specs, so at least it?s not overheating.
- Will be trying the card on a fresh install of XP later tonight to see if it helps

Odd thing is there seems to be a performance increase while running Oblivion so I know that the card *should* be working. However, I have yet to try other games, like Q4, as I?ve only just started testing it. So, any suggestions?

Oops, forgot to mention system specs:
Opteron 146 @ 2.4GHz
2x 512 PC3200 @ 2-2-2-8
... not much else comes to mind that could be useful

I've seen a benchmark of an xfx 7600gt agp and in 3dMark05 it does 5219 so i think its not a graphic's problem but thats the way she works. It seems that the benchmarks are lower but the performance is somewhat similar to the pci-e version.

That's encouraging to know. Just got to figure out why Aquamark3 is giving such poor performance though :<

Haven't tried OC yet, last thing I want to do is toast the card through carelessness at this stage. I have down-clocked it though to 445 MHz (Core) and AM3 still only gave about 50k :disgust:. I've heard some good stories about OC on the PCI-e version though I'm doubtful that it will hold true for AGP as well :(. Concern at this stage is with stock performance.

My Leadtek 3DM05 results were lower than expected at first. Not sure if the solution was lowering the AGP Aperture setting to 128MB but you may want to check that. Getting 6500 now with auto-OC which seems fine. I may try higher and although it is running cool and quiet I have considered remounting the heat sinks with some good goo and using RivaTuner to allow a higher fan speed under load as its BIOS apparently limits it to 65%, if I recall.

Um. I have a Leadtek 7600GT and did 3dmark05 with all default options (as in download it, not register, etc) and got 5733 or something.

With an oc of 600/805 I got 6277.

Good news. Ran Driver Cleaner Pro and Regcleaner before installing 91.47 and now I get ~60K in Aquamark3. Not as huge an improvement as I thought I'd get but definitely noticeable. 3DMark01 is now at 21.3K which is another welcome fix so overall kinda happy at the moment. I've got other plans with the card so I wont be OC'ing it :D...

Edit: Just read your post XxCronoxX. Did not realise such a modest OC could improve 3d05. Even more reassuring were your stock scores though :)

This is on stock cooling too! Max temperature i've ever hit was 69C and it idles at 47ish still. The memory is not that great at OCing I -THINK-, but im sure the FSB can be boosted a bit higher. I'll update once I find out where the hell you can find an aftermarket HSF. -_-;

But yeah, here are my specs incase anyone is wondering:

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (stock, 2200mhz)
1024 Corsair Value 512 x 2 DDR400
Leadtek 7600GT @ 600/805
Hiper Type-R Blue 580W
Windows 2000pro SP4

EDIT-

I ran Aquamark and got 57k or so. I think aquamark 3 or something. Was all default.

Just one thing...Any of you have ever seen an XFX 7600gt AGP review?I only have seen the leadtek one..:/

Aint seen a review yet, though I could probably give a very subjective one. They've only just been released (last one or two weeks) without much fanfare at that.

The thing is, I get better results than that one hardwarezone or whatever the hell it was. For example they got 5609 in 3dmark05 while I got 5762 (just checked my project manager lol)

The review's OC was 580/720 while mine is 600/805. Their 3dmark05 scores with OC was 5690 while mine was 6277 more recently. So yeah...I say we need more reviews for a more accurate comparison. Though I still think my 7600GT AGP rocks and even moreso for it's price! In Sweden it was cheaper than a 6800GS! Hell, It was the same price as a x1600pro, rofl.

One of the sites on that thread got 600/775 or so. I got 600/805 on stock cooling rofl x_x.

I must be lucky then, after I find an aftermarket heatsink and memory heatsinks, I'll try to push this baby high. Note: I run on a stock Athlon xp 3200+ XD

OC thread

As said there my auto-OC is 614/817 and an aftermarket HSF would seem poor bang for the yuan. The Leadtek heat sinks are already very good so I would suggest at least first trying to raise the max speed of the fan under 3D (65 -> 100) or possibly utilizing a seperate 80-90mm fan to take advantage of the open HS design.

If you do remove the HSs to re-do the TIM or replace then please post the VRAM part number.

Where do you have such options to adjust fan speed? If possible I'd want it running 100% all the time but don't know how. This is assuming the fan is actually changing speed?

Nice OC, I'll try to push mine higher later. I get to 69C max though with my current OC after scanning for artifacts on ATI Tools for like 5 minutes. x_x
