Question 6900XT, where are the reviews? When can we order it?

Today is 12/7, supposedly we can order tomorrow. But I have yet to find a review, and can we order tomorrow 6am EST?

AMD has not lifted embargo of reviews yet? Looks like no one cares. But if we can get this card for $1000, it is definitely better than paying $1500 on ebay right?
 
Reviews will be out tomorrow. Current rumors suggest that supplies will be limited as has been the case for every new card launched this year, so yes it would be better if you could get the card for $1000, but most people should expect to pay $1500 on eBay. Quite frankly the reviews aren't going to matter since there are so few high-end GPUs available that this is guaranteed to sell out.
 
I agree reviews do not matter, but when will it be on sale? 6am EST? I still want to give a try though. Just don't want to pay for fleabay price.

I just assume reviews should be out today to prepare for lunch.
 
OK, I give up.

My desktop is waiting for 3080 now. It is the 1st time I build a PC for past 10 years, so I don't have a spare card and can only use integrated GPU.

You gave up very quickly, exactly 2h after creating first post 🙂 Not to mention, you gave up almost 14h before product launch, this must be some kind of a record as normally people are giving up on purchasing unobtanium some time after it 'launches' 😉
Amazing resilience and strong will to endure in this race to buy a GPU. My respect!

Speaking of which, @lightmanek do you feel like pushing your luck with the 6900XT as well? You seem to be quite lucky snagging these cards 😀

Just in case if anyone manages to buy one, would love to see some real-world benchmarks

I tried a bit this morning, zero luck ~ instantly gone (plus AMD site crash). AMD added some more processors to their store this morning also, had chance at 5900x, but never even saw the 6900xt much less getting it into a cart. Yields are clearly low with far less 6900 supply than 6800's, even with the extra month for AMD to build inventory.
 
I've only looked at a handful of reviews so far, but is it just me or does the lack of Infinity Cache overclocking appear to hold back the performance of Big Navi even when the core clocks are pushed 10% higher than stock? I feel like I'm seeing OC performance gain in the <5% range even though the core clocks are pushed beyond 2500 MHz when stock is like 2200 MHz.

Yes, RX6000 series was effectively a paper launch. Hopefully within a couple of months, supplies should improve. Rumors are that there may be some large shipments reaching retailers even by the end of this month.

No, I would go for it if it was priced at $750-$800 mark, but for $999 it is a no-go.
But I'm too interested how it's going to overclock and perform at different tasks once it land in hands of enthusiasts.
 
I've only read a couple of reviews so far, but it's roughly what I expected: ray tracing gets a notable improvement, general non-ray-traced performance is marginally better, otherwise, it barely makes sense to bother with it.

You are missing the crucial variable here - stock clock at which card is really running is not 2200MHz. By default my card can boost to 2400MHz+ and it is predominantly power limited. To be honest, performance scales really well with GPU clock when not power limited. For example, my card is set to 2727MHz GPU, but in 3DMark PortRoyale card can hit 2670MHz only with one camera angle, in a scene not longer than 3 seconds, where rest of the test GPU sits between 2360MHz and 2480MHz, constantly hitting 300W limit.
I really hope that in not too distant future someone will release BIOS'es or hacked drivers with Power Limit ideally in -/+ 50% range.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding. Well, good to know that hitting higher clocks ain't an issue with RDNA 2. Seems like the natural progression moving forward is to tweak the architecture for better efficiency and IPC since it already clocks so well.
 
How is the performance at 1440p? I wonder how it compares to 6800XT and 3080 there.

A 3090 is only 5% faster than a 3080 in some situations. And it cost $1500.

Its interesting. In many games, the 6900 soundly beats everything at 1080P and 1440P, but then loses at 4K. But, in a few games it wins at 4K, but then loses at 1080P and 1440P.
 
Not very good value compared to RX 6800 XT. 3090 has more RAM so it at least has that advantage over 3080 and Radeons. Performance wise they are all so close in rasterisation that it doesn't matter. Pretty much the one which is cheapest is the best buy (and offers the features you want).
