I have to admit I was laughing my ass off until I read the bit about finger amputation. Sorry to hear that dude. :( Could be worse, I'm a pianist, what do you think would happen to my job...

<< Warning to all. Never buy your kids those little hotwheel cars. >>

So with the current state of the American legal system, does this mean you can sue your kids for leaving them out?

no, dummy. The factory that made those plastic small wheels on the bottom of the hotwheels are to blame. Without the wheels, he wouldn't have bought the cars and injured himself!

:p

No dummy. It's all Henry Ford's fault! If he hadn't developed the motorcar in 1908, there wouldn't be little toy cars for people to step on today. ;)

Thanks for the support for those who did.

However this is not a case where a sueing of a company can win (My wife don't think so though, and she will be talking with her attorney.)

Personally if I lose my finger no ammount of money will ever make up for it. I just hope it does not come down to it.

Right now the finger is all swollen and has no movement or feeling. I even poked it with a needle and it did not even bleed nor did I feel anything. The base part of my hand has feeling though, and it really hurts.

SinfulWeeper, started off like something I've done on my own HotWheels cars ages ago :D , but once the work "amputation" was read, I got a chill down my spine. I truly hope all heals well and you're able to type up to speed real soon. Anyway, hope you still have a Happy Holiday.

Good God man. The thought of you even entertaining the idea of trying to pass blame on someone other than yourself and your child is disturbing. Two things should happen here: 1) Your child - or whoever is responsible for picking up toys in the living room - should be made aware of the seriousness of such actions to avoid such thing repeating itself in the future. 2) Pay attention. If you have young children, you should know full well that toys can get left lying around and people can get hurt by stepping on them. The first thing you should do is get rid of the glass coffee table, because the injury was not caused by the toy car, it was the glass that did the damage to your finger.

I don't plan on letting this preoblem interfere with my holidays. I am only worried about what will happen should it happen. Will I be able to learn to retype with one less finger?, will I be able to drive my 250R or MXZ 700? Will it be a major burden or not? There is just a lot of worries that I will deal with should it come to that.

At least I am not left handed or my fears would be greatly more drastic then they already are.

I taught myself to type when I was in grade-school, and I don't type the way I should... I rarely use my little fingers, but I can still type pretty damn fast! If it comes off, you will adapt.

I am not passing blame to my child or anybody else. However I did make sure all those little cars went in the trash.

Normally our house is spotlees. There was just that one toy that happened to ruin things. When you see a clean house upon first entering, it is general habit to quit looking at floors to make sure where you are walking because your eyes already seen a clean place. I just had the unfortunate problem that the 'general rule of thumb' failed.

Well, we never have to worry about the coffee table again. That was destroyed when weight and gravity took me down.

Its no problem to adjust. I had sprained my left pointer finger, and had to tape to up to my left middle finger. Anyway, it only took me an hour or two to adjust to the lack of my pointer.

Of course I did. However we have a very small hospitol and the doctor that was on I am related to. So she could not work on me. She had a nurse end up checking on it, and asked for me to be transfered to a hostitol in Anchorage. I agreed, however I refused to go until after X-Mas. So I ship out on the 26th.

If you refused to go to the doctor until after christmas, and you lose the finger for it, you wont get any sympathy from me.

Unless you can justify this, it's a quite dumb decision.
So you're sitting at home, celebrating the holidays, while your finger is quietly deteriorating. NOT cool at all.
You should've taken care of such things IMMEDIATELY. Every hour counts.
