I think that's true in my case, and I don't want to give that up. Part of that is also that as people move up in salary range, some work smarter and not harder and as a result, have more free time.

Correct. A lot of times I sell solutions. Someone comes to me with a specific problem, I think about it and get them a solution that solves their problem. Now the hard work is done and if anyone else comes to me with a similar problem I just sell them the solution I already came up with. Since I specialize in medical stuff, a lot of the problems people have are very similar and they are willing to pay well for it if it simplifies their life/practice.

AoS, how did you get your business started? How old were you then?

About 4 years ago. I was mid-20s.

Edit:

Sorry. As for how I got it started... I noticed a lot of people complaining about how much the companies in town were charging for IT services. I started working for one local physician assistant and from there word of mouth caught on. Hint to anyone thinking about doing this: answer your phone. The number one complaint I hear is that IT guys won't return phone calls for days. When dealing with physicians, they need help immediately. They also pay for that immediate help. I have several on retainer, basically. They get same day assistance, but they pay me for the privilege of having such service.

AoS, someone asked earlier why you think being in the wealthiest 1% of the richest nation on Earth doesn't qualify you as rich. I want to read your answer to this.

For the same reason that being in the top 10% of the wealthiest individuals in the richest nation on Earth doesn't qualify as being rich.
